Freeman Toyota. They had to place an order from the factory, but so far it sounds like its been pretty easy and quick process. Only way I got the price I was quoted was to custom order my Taco with only "factory standard" options. It is like a base model from the 2012 series. It is arriving with black grille, bumpers, and fenders. Since I was never going to use the Entune package and dont really require the tow package, I told them that I wouldn't need any of it and they kinda hesitated before giving in and ordering it my way. Most of the crap that comes on the 2014 Taco TSS was going to be replaced during mod stages anyway so I figured why not get a bare bones Taco to start with ;)

Dad just bought a 2014 Spruce Mica DCSB TRD Offroad 4x4 V6 SR5 loaded minus NAV but has the Premium stereo with Entune back up camera in the dash instead of mirror, has TRD Exhaust with Stainless TRD tip, Running boards, all weather mats, etc... Sticker was right at 35K. He had an 05 Escape he traded that was paid for. He got out the door with tags, taxes and title, and proc fee for 28K. He paid cash. They also gave him the OEM Rubber bed mat, and 2 tanks of gas in the end.

Seeing what some of you paid almost makes mesick...

Canadian dealers aren't so flexible with MSRP it seems.

New to the Tacoma family today. I believe I got a good deal after visiting few dealers within South Florida.

2014 Mag Gray Tacoma Prerunner Double Cab 4x2 V6 w/ TRD Sport package / Entune Audio Plus with 4 miles on the ODO.
Car came with running boards, factory dealer tint, pin stripe, aux/ipod cables and my salesman surprised me with all weather floor mats I had asked for instead of the stock carpets.

    MSRP on sticker $30,259
Paid $30,250 OTD. ($27,3**.** + tax title and fees)

My 2014 4x4 SR5 was scheduled in San Antonio to be buillt, or started, yesterday. Does anyone know how long it takes them to finish the truck start to finish? How fast do they get the trucks on freight to destination once made?
    Thanks

Had my 2014 DCB TRD Off Road, Gray, for a couple of days and am loving it. Used the Costco purchase program and got it below invoice.

    Autonation Toyota in Weston.

Long story was (for those who care)...

I started looking for the car I wanted last Thursday at Weston. They looked up the car for me and said there was one at a "sister dealership". Talking numbers and starting with a lowball offer of 28.5 OTD, the first counter offer the General Manager gave me was 30,000 OTD. I walked away immediately knowing I was going to find that truck at the sister dealer somewhere.

I saw the last 5 digits of the VIN, looked it up and found it was at Headquarter Toyota, about 15 miles away. I head down there Monday, circle the lot and see the car I wanted and it came with dealer added options running boards, tints, clearbra protectors ("$2,999 value"). Total MSRP was 33-34k. Not knowing it had all these features I told the salesman that there was a ridiculous markup on these added features and the car, so I offered him 28.5k OTD. We kept going back and forth with numbers and he came over to me afterwards with an "invoice" number.
"Apparently" they purchase the car for 28.5k and I told him that I knew how dealers work. He then gave me a price of 33K OTD and I laughed and told him "noone in their right mind would buy a car for MSRP", then I drove off to lunch down the street. He calls me back and tells me he wants my business, and asks me to make a better offer.
Back and forth, down to dealers offer of 30.5+Tag fee, I said 30K OTD and thats final. tells me I'm getting closer, tells me to come in and try to wiggle his general manager. I get there and they are asking 30k +tag (about 30.5k).
I told him I got a better offer for the same car at weston. He tells me i wont get this good of a deal and tells me to sign the paper of me refusing to take the offer of 30+tag fees. There I got fed up and left to Weston. Found the same guy that helped me last Thursday so I could feed his commission. He told me that we left off on a dealers 30k OTD offer.
Not knowing if they would get the car from headquarter toyota without the added dealer features, I told him i wanted the car the way it was at Headquarter. (thinking about that now, I prob could have gotten the car for way less than 30k) Dealer wanted 30.250 OTD since I told them it had running boards
Ended up taking that offer because I was tired of going back and forth for a few hundred. Overall I felt I did well, but again felt I could have gone lower since 30K was the first counteroffer from the GM. I was scared the Headquarter dealer would take the running boards and added features off the car if Weston Toyota bought it from them.

Oh yeah, the next day Headquarter calls me and tells me they will take my offer for the car of 30K OTD. Funny thing was that the exact car (same VIN) they were going to sell me was already in my garage.

I liked Viskool's story, so I'll share my own dealer experience in case it helps someone. I've replied to my own post to help keep things organized. This was my first 'brand new' car buying experience.

I visited the vehicle the first day and learned it's MSRP was $30,833. I showed great interest in it, but left to research. edmonds.com and truecar.com both told me that the fair market value of the vehicle I chose was approximately $28,500 with packages/options included. I decided to offer $27,000 and stick to my guns no matter what. The dealer was already texting me a ton. They wanted it bought by the end of October so they could make their numbers. I made my offer in a text and they said to "come in", so I did.

Once there (Oct 31st 10:00am) they immediately started trying to meet me halfway. I said "No way! You told me to come in after I made my offer. If it's unreasonable, tell me now, but I have to be at work at 3pm." After a tiny bit of back and forth, they agree to it. Then the paperwork comes out. There's a $600.00 doc fee. I told her I would agree to pay $100, but no more. So she gets another guy to come out, and he tells me that the $600 isn't negotiable. So I say fine, I'll go. They bring it down to $500. Then $300. Then $250, and then he shows me the invoice and explains that if I pay $250, then they are losing $250 selling me the car.

I'm laughing now and I tell the guy again, "If you don't want to sell it to me for that amount, then just don't! You're the dealer!" So then it gets to $120. I'm now $20 dollars away from my agreed upon $100 doc fee, but I stick it out and somehow he forgets I offered to pay $100 for the doc fee and just clears the doc fee altogether. After that he put on this show like I should feel guilty for fucking him and leaves me with the original lady.

So that's how I did it. It probably could have been done better. Hell, I could have maybe even gotten it much cheaper, but that's me. I hate negotiating. I don't live for the "art" of it, or get where people find the enjoyment. If I was a good negotiator I might have gone in lower and gone up to $27,000. But... I just figured that since my top offer was below fair market price, I'd just lead with it and see what happened. I went into it from the perspective of, "I can just buy another one later if this price turns out to truly be too low." I had no clue if it was or not. I do think it weirded them out that I was ready to walk out over $20 dollars there at the end though. That was somewhat satisfying in it's own way.

How are these great deals?!?!?!?! These trucks are very reliable, but thats about it. Rough ride and loud cabins plague these vehicles. Also, gas mileage isn't that great for a v6. They are good for a price up to about 25 or 26 thousand tops. After that, get something with a luxury side to it. There are Full size trucks out there that get just as good mileage as the tacomas and have a lot more everything else (power(V8), towing capability and comfort) I really like my truck, but i don't think the double cabs should cost twice what i paid for mine new. $15500 I would be embarrassed to say that i paid mid-30,000 for a tacoma.

Just a thought, does anyone agree?

    none yet
    That's a fair price.

My '13 tacoma was listed at $34k and I paid $31+K for it. I thought it was an ok deal.

Just "built" an F-150 on Ford.com. XL model, crew cab + 4x4 and no Nav for almost $40k and does not include any packages. Package with locking diff is almost $45k. So, $10-15k difference. Not to mention I didn't desire a full size pick up, or I would have bought one.

Well the good news is it doesn't matter what you paid since Tacomas now have the highest residuals of ANY vehicle sold in the US.
