New tires - speedometer/odometer issues

If I go from 265/70R16 (stock on the TRD Off Road) to 265/75R16 will I see any issues with the Speedometer, Odometer, or anything else? Thanks

i thought that the offroad models come with 265/70 16.. i know that the sports come with 265/65 17..

With stock tires my speedo/odo was faster than it should have been. I know this is true on alot of tacomas. Bastards.

 

how does that calculator work, its late and im tired,,but i dont know how to read it at this time..

 

Actually can't wait to replace my stock 245-75 16's with 265-75-16's to help correct the speedometer issue!! Atleast it will make up half the difference at 50mph!

 

ECM is calibrated at the factory for the wheel/tire - rear end ratio as built.
Changing to a different diameter tire will result in an incorrect reading on the odo and speedometer.

Curious - have folks who lifted their trucks and put on 3x" tires been able to have the dealer re-program the ECM to correct?

 

coma09, it must have been the end of the day on a friday, cause mine is 5mph off at 50mph. And I have stock tires and wheels. It is a rather common complaint on here. By increasing my tire size I will gain about half of that difference back at 50mph. Read around, that variance is with-in Toyotas "spec".

 

Yeah mine was off about 3-4 mph at 50 so hopefully when I get the 285's on next week it'll balance out.

When our plant used to build up the instrument panels in-house, the cluster was tested after assembly, and the spec for the speedo was +/- 5mph.
That was with the cluster sitting horizontal and not accounting for any errors in pointer balance when vertical. Generally they were more accurate than that ... but that was the spec.

As a general statement .... manufacturers want them to read high, to avoid legal issues around speed related lawsuits. Of course the odo racks up the miles sooner as well, but that's just being paranoid ... or is it ?

 

I fully agree I want it over. Just wish it was a little closer, but then again I am a little anal!!
