Ok, I figured Id post this in the La section because primarily all of my off road wheeling/ riding will be done in the state. I have a 2013 double cab Taco and I am looking to add a front bumper, skid plates, winch and thinking about a roll bar in the back with some KC lights on it. The problem Im running into is I cant decide if a simple bull bar/ winch combo will be sufficient, or do I need to step up to some armor (really liking the look of the all pro armor.) Im not going to lift the truck anytime soon as I have a 7 yr extended warranty on it and im not looking to void that. I plan on attending meetings with the Cajun Yotas and doing some trail rides as well (pissed that I couldnt make last weekend.. lol) and am looking for a good recovery kit to have with me. I am also looking to get another set or wheels and wrapping them in a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Claw TTC Radials If they'll fit with the stock suspension. Any help or suggestions would be MOST appreciated.

Skid, plate bumpers, winches, etc all add a lot of weight - this is NOT compatible w/ your stock suspension, you will have to upgrade to deal with the weight. Changing your suspension will NOT void your warranty (except for the suspension pieces, obviously...).

Ok, by adding these things to the truck, will I need to lift it or just get some aftermarket suspension pieces?

Well the aftermarket suspension pieces you would need would be the sorts of things that you would get w/ a lift - heavier duty springs/shocks. Technically, I guess it would be possible to keep it the stock height and add all that weight, but it will probably cost more than buying a lift that's manufactured for what you want.

ok.... So if I were to lift my truck, how would that effect the ride/ gas mileage of it? Please understand I am a complete NOOB when it comes to modding a truck. I am, however, VERY eager to learn!

The lift doesn't necessarily affect your gas mileage. It's the bigger tires and the weight from the armor that is going to kill the gas mileage. As far as the ride, in my opinion, my truck rides way better after the lift and also after I pulled off my sway bar. It's stiffer but in a good way.

I had the same 7 year warranty on my truck and the only thing my lift voided was the suspension warranty, which doesn't matter because all of the factory components are gone. If I were you if look into either the Bilstein/Eibach setup which David is running or the Old Man Emu kit

Cool. Thnx for the replies. I was looking at the ToyTech bilstien lift.. the 5100 I believe it was.. I think that will be my first mod to the truck. .. next question tho, with the suspension lift, will I need to change to an aftermarket wheel/ tire setup or can I run my stock 17s?

I have several ideas for your truck and know where to get em:D
Suspension depends ob how mild or wild you want to go, how much coin you are wiling to drop.

You can keep your 17s. Its up to you whether or not you want new tires.

Awesome. I'll be able to stick to a plan a have. Ive been looking at the Mickey Thompson Baja Claw radials. Id like to get a set of them and put them on separate rims and just change them out whenever I go on a ride and then put my stockers back on after the ride is done.

Lifting your truck will affect your MPG. When I lifted mine 3", I lost 1.5-2 MPG because of the drag index got increased.

Those Toytec 5100 are good. I went with the ProComp Pro Runners and all my friends love how my truck rides and sits, also they were half the price. On your wheel and tire question, I wouldn't go any bigger than 265 on stock 17" wheels. I did that and my clearance between my tire and UCA was less than the thickness of one finger. The BS (Backspacing) on stock wheels is 4", you will want something with a 4.5" or 4.75" so you wont hit your suspension.
