    Just read through the ENTIRE thread (might have taken 5 days :D ) and all I can say is wow! Very well put together build, cant wait for you to be boosted! I kept thinking that by the time i got to the end of this madness you would have your engine back from Darton.

    Having read up to page 53 and skimming through the last several months of BS...you are bat shit crazy man, and if I ever run into you the beer's on me. I have some questions...

    1) Does anyone make cams to delete the VVT? If not what happens if you lock them on full advance? Have you played with the VVT or newer VVT-I? (I'm an LS/SBC dude, I just don't see the need for it.)

    2) How did you plumb the fuel lines into the aftermarket rails? I want to install a fuel filter under the hood, trying to figure out what adapters are needed at the fuel rail end...is there a quick disco under the hood somewhere?

    3) I hate the stock ECU. Can I throw it in the trash and run a standalone or is the ECU still required? My goal is reliability. More simple, mo'betta. I've already deleted ABS/trac/SRS/4wdECU/etc. I just want the engine to run right, and I know how to tune it.

    4) If you had to build an engine that was 100% reliable (like the stock motor) with the most power how would you do it? If you break down you call a buddy with a tow strap. If I break down I'm a wolf turd...or at the very least I have a 30+ mile walk. :eek:

    It sometimes feels like a Mobius Strip. :laugh: But the story continues...... I have had to adapt smaller "finished" goals. That way I feel like I have accomplished some form of finality, and I can enjoy the reward. :cookiemonster: Prepping for Nov. 30th race day has been a tad stressful, but rewarding as well. Calculated the funds to get everything done, annnnnd then had to drink a beer to calm the nerves. Lol. Was the cost of the new turbo I want, and the Ron Davis radiator install..... On the flip side, these were actually far more necessary than those though, so I cannot really complain.


    Let's keep this going so we can nail it down properly.

    He is running an intake and I think a y-pipe and cat-back. After that he hooked up a maf cal and tuned the shit out of the motor on the Autobahn. I'm pretty sure he has no intention of boosting due to reliability. So basically I think he is asking, How can he improve reliability without losing too much of the power he has now. I'd guess he is at about 225-250HP at the wheels depending on his elevation.

    Between gym and picking up truck parts, I haven't had the time. :pout: Clifford's intake manifold will be here today, and picking up all of the Redline fluids from Grumpy after work. D4 ATF, 75w-90NS gear oil, and fuel system cleaner. :woot: just need to run to NAPA and get a new filter.

    No headers? Keeping boost out of the equation definitely keeps things simpler.

    speaking of redline, can you send me a link to the gear oil you wre telling me about. i should have written it down when i was at your place. my diffs, trnsfer case, and motor all need new oil. with the beating it takes, i'm sure the tranny could use a change, but i'll take care of that at another time.

    If he does have headers he hasn't mentioned them that I recall...
    I just did both diffs, my tcase and my engine oil on Sunday. All redline now.

    we were talking about the LS, and i want to say mark recomended i run redline without any friction modifier. I already barely use any with the Mobile 1, but he said i'd see even better traction this way. again.....that's if my memory serves.....we had been drinking :drunk:
