This is news to me as well. I really want the RZR XP 1000 but my uncle has a ranger 2 seater that he beats on and it still runs great.

 

Honestly you can probably find a smokin deal on a lightly used Polaris RZR right now. I had a chance to ride in one of the new 1000s this weekend in Glamis and HOLY CRAP!!! So fast!!! I guarantee there will be a bunch of people looking to trade their 1-2 year old ones in for the 1000s now. 4x4, relatively fast, 4 seats, decent storage and they're comfortable.

I have a video from a few years back out at Rail X of my truck and a new (2010) RZR Racing around and he had no problem keeping up through the rough stuff.

 

I'll look at the RZR's as well. I like the look of the RZR a lot more and it seems like it would be more fun. But again, its my parents loot, not mine. They want rock solid that can go anywhere. Granted I'll be beating the shit out of it more than they will.

 

RZR for sure! even the old 800s were fast enough to get yourself in trouble. My buddies dad has a Ranger 900 and although he likes it hes swapping it out for a new 1000s I think. Its just too much utility, less fun.

if its under 1100 (may be 1000) you must wear helmets in UTVS
4 seater UTVS are not allowed unless they came with 4 seats from the dealer.

for his parents, i think they want more utility, from what he has said.
a rzr doesnt have much of a bed.

2wd and 4wd 6 lug trucks are practically the same truck, so the same way it would be done on a 4wd, but without a diff or axles LOL.

 

I know the 2wd can be long travel but the drop bracket I dont understand how that works together.

 

why wouldnt it? 6" kits work by moving the lower arm pivot point and the diff down 4-6" and adding a taller spindle to correct the UCA angle. Its essentially a stock front end extended a few inches. Adding a LT kit on top of it would basically be the same process as bolting one onto a stock truck only the spindle is taller.

That being said, I would never do it or advise anyone to do it cuz its a waste but it is possible
