SQ amp less than 18" putting out 1k watts @ 4ohms?

My amp rack at its widest is approximately 18 inches, so I'm trying to find an amp that supplies at least 1000watts rms @ 4ohms that is less than 18 inches. I don't want to put an amp under my seat nor am I trying to power my subs at 1 ohm. I'm trying to power two JL Audio 10TW3-D4's with clean power with a good amount of head room. I've been through tons of searches and nothing comes up within my parameters. The JL Audio 1000/1v2 fits so PERFECTLY into my search with its regulated power from 11-15v, Lots of head room, but at its widest its already 20 inches. I've looked at the PPI Phantom 900.4, perfect size but at 4ohms bridged its doing 450rms at 14.4v and considering my truck doesn't run at 14.4v its probably not doing 450rms. more like 350-400 which isn't a lot of head room i'm looking for. Now, I have my eye on the JL Audio 1200/1 which fits all my parameters, its just that I feel that there is way too much head room and those extra rms watts would be wasted money. Now thats like the only amp I've come to find thats less than 18" putting out that kind of power and was wondering if anyone had other options.

All our trucks run at 14.4v when the engine is running

 

Voltage in cars changes a lot with loads too. Usually 14.4 but with subs can dip a lot. Mine made mine to as low as 10v till I upgraded.

My question for you is

Why the hell are you trying to power subs with a 4 channel amp?

You'd be MUCH better off getting a mono D amp and wiring the sub right for 1 ohm.

Why would he not have read the post…? He said its 16.5" which is what you're looking for, and its a high quality amp.

x2 to what blackdawg said. And there are plenty of smaller amps out there, you just have to look. My kicker dx1000.1 is the size of an iPad and can put out 1142w rms.

 

I asked myself that too, I was kind of desperate. Still, I'd prefer running the subs at 4ohms with a mono D amp.

 

Hell my SSL mono amp is 2100w rms and pretty sure it's less then 18"

 

Why 4 ohms?

 

better on my electrical, higher efficiency, longer amp life, less heat.

Well hate to break it to you..but your subs are dual voice coil..you can't wire them to 4 ohms anyways.

Not as efficient yes but more power. Plus new amps handle the low impedance's very well.

dc 1.2 will put more watts to your system i can gurantee that. that kicker on a amp dyno wont touch 550. And yes i read your post

and higher efficiency? really so more resistance is more effecient? why are all cars aerodynamic then? dc amp will run for ever. less resistance means less heat....

 

According to crutchfield I can either wire them at 4ohm or 1 ohm.

Not really a waste.

Not everyone wants to rattle the mirrors off the car next to them. Having a well balanced and great sounding system doesn't take 8000w of bass.

 

so why does 1 ohm mean 8000w window rattling?

at 1 ohm the amp is much more efficient.

 

No it's not actually.

This is always a hard concept for people to understand.

Yes more power is outputed but the amp is having to work 2-4x harder to make that happen. It's efficiency goes out the window. More heat is generated and strain on the amp.
