Noticed on Toytec website that the OME lift kit is $700 while the "Ultimate" package with Bilsteins is $1200. Where is the $500 difference, or is there one? I think its especially curious since the OEM front shocks seperately sell for $90 MORE than the 5100's. :notsure:

They are BOTH technically coilovers....The coil goes over the spring...coilover.

The Toytec kit is adjustable and the Ultimate kit comes with some extra hardware that is "required" (the sway bar relocates, diff drop, shims)

Ummmm....I'd LOVE to hear you justify that statement fully.

I've got a FULL OME suspension (except rear springs) because the oil loading, shock pressure, and spring rates worked for my type of driving/wheeling better than the 5100s.

The adjustability of the Toytec might be nice- but I don't have any concerns about major sagging because of the spring design from OME (not OEM).

So again...What makes the Toytec so much "greater"??

Yeah but the Coils for the Shocks ARE included, just not an extra spacer that would push it up to an even 3" and cost like $140. The only difference I can find in the two specs is sway bar relocates on the ultimate kit. Which is hardly worth the $426 dollars difference. I know everybody likes the Bilsteins, but given that the OME shocks are more expensive sold seperately I just thought it was real weird that these packaged kits at Toytec have such a huge price gap.

Okay?? So you'd rather preload your springs more to get three inches of lift...I'd rather use a small (like 1/4 to 1/2 inch) top plate spacer to get there.

You still haven't proven the overwhelmingly amazing quality that makes it so much better...You pointed out a preference. (which was were I was going this whole time)...You might like it better...but that doesn't make it amazingly better.

I'd be hard pressed to believe OME would be in business with the prices they charge if Bilstien was so much better AND less expensive.

PS- My deal is that I hate un-qualified brand loyalty/non-fact based statements that are made as un-equivocally . Have you ever ridden in/used OME products?? Then what are you comparing based on??

The 5100s are a higher pressure, lower oil content shock- Leading to faster heat up and potential for fading under fast motion/rebounds. The OME are lower pressure with more oil, generally leading better heat movement and less fading. I'm not sure what the down fall of them are...but I'm sure there is something....

I am not trying to start a fight between OME and Bilstein, I just dont understand if Toytec is packaging kits, why does the price of the OME come in so much cheaper than the kit with Bilsteins when the opposite is true when sold seperately?

ok i see know that the actual coilover itself makes up some difference, but not all. Both kits include coilovers for the shocks, and while the OME shock is more than the Bilstein shock, the actual coil that Toytec makes for the Bilstein costs more than the OME coil. Still they Toytec coil is $260 more than the OME coil, but the OME shock is $90 more than the 5100. Thats a net difference of $170. But the Kits with everything have a net difference of $426. So now I just cant find $256 dollars worth of difference instead of $426 in the two kits.

Edit: $226 difference because the Bilstein REARs are $30 more than the OME Rears

Yes.. I'll be anxiously awaiting a detailed explanation to this problem from someone much wiser than me as I have not completely made up my mind on a lift just yet. Good info so far. :D

the one thing i guess I'm missing to be fair in the explaination- What is the benefit of the oil/pressure in the Bilstien shocks?? More responsive?? Cheaper to build??

Cause obviously if the OME set up was cold better-then everyone would do it that way now??

the ultimate lift kit is also pre-assembled which means you dont have to have the springs compressed and it comes with a new top plate...i guess that could cover some of the price difference but im not sure how much. either way im ordering the OME kit soon. ftw!
