Calling all Virginians (Tidewater area)

I. Inspect for and reject if:
1. Vehicle has an auxiliary lamp being used for a purpose other than for which it was approved.
EXCEPTION: Any lighting device that is both covered and not illuminated, other than lamps required, shall not be considered for inspection. Fog and driving lamps mounted below the level of the regular headlamps must be checked for aim as outlined in subdivisions I 10 i and 11 g of this section if not covered. NOTE: The covers shall be a type that would be installed as original equipment and not tape, paper bags, aluminum foil or similar materials per subdivision I 11g (2)


Just need to cover them for inspection and not use them on the streets...unless someones tailgating you

 

Yeah, that might get me in trouble. I should be ok if I point the down or inwards, right? The lights don't have a cover and I don't think many people are in the business of making custom light covers...

I have two 6" led light bars and the 4 inch you gave me. I'm going to mount it to the bed rack.

 

How are you going to cover the lights for inspection?

Ps, that 4" is very slightly smaller than the two I got even though it the exact same shape and relative dimensions....

 

Why not just put a connector near the light and just remove them when you go in for inspection?

 

Does that work? If so, I can just pull the fuses or disconnect the fuse relay entirely.

 

Remove the bed rack during inspection or install the lights with quick connects. The guy that inspects my trucks knows that I use my off road lights for off roading. Told me not to turn them on during normal driving.

 

I don't know as I haven't had an inspection here. But I meant pull them completely off and just leave the wiring harness when you get inspected.

I think it just depends where you go for inspection, you go the dealer with off-road lighting or a big chain repair shop they will most likely fail you. I have Rigid led's on mine w/o any type of cover and have not had issues.
