Opposite muscles kind of. First let me ask what style deads you are doing? Conventional, sumo, rdl, deficits, stiff leg? And secondly, remember that although you are going from glutes/hams to quads, you are still taxing the hips and lower back thereby still struggling to bring up the front squat. Try zercher squats or front pause squats.

Do you squat with shoes on?

I found that doing front squats with my vibrams with my heel on a plate really helped my front squat...
Ankle angles get weird with the weight in front

My front squat went from having trouble with 135 to 205 in two months, because of the whole heel on plate thing

Do you guys with minimalist shoes have issues with your feet? For instance athletes foot or blisters or rubbing on the top of the big toe knuckle?

I have Merrell's and I can't seem to not stop having issues with my feet.

At the end of a workout, with my vibrums, my feet are dead... But to combat that, I honestly go and get pedicures... no homo... but it helps my feet so much.. I get one once a month to let them recharge... But I also wear boots too so that doesnt help much either, with the pain and what not

Do you wear socks with them?
I have no issues whatsoever, and also use them to run the 5 miles (2.5 to/ 2.5 back) to get to/back from the gym

What kind of socks do you wear? If its cotton its time to change it up. Other than with my work boots I couldnt tell you the last time I wore cotton socks. synthetic blends FTW

I have two pair of merrell and two pair of inov8. My merrell's get the most use by far. Bare access 2 Lifting, running, trail races, casual. They do take time to get use to though. Most people are use to thick healed shoes with tons of support. Minimal shoes require more foot, ankle, calf strength and flexability so when starting out its best to alternate regular shoes and minimal shoes to condition your body for them.

If I workout at home with the kettelbell I go barefoot to help strengthen my feet also.
