oooooo a recurve! haven't shot one of those in a long time. Ive been on compounds for a while..haha

and thats a good deal! wish i could take you up on it.

    Psh..

you know what i use to heat my room?

    -Deskstop computers
    -28'' monitor
    -2 powered bi amped speaks
    -sound board
    -5.1 system
    -lamps

    yea  haha

nah i have a real heater..but i only have one small vent for both rooms and it gets cold down here usually..but the computers really do warm it up..a lot..haha if i get cold..i just start running lots of apps like 40+tabs in FF, itunes, LR5, photomatrix and so forth and boom. Mac warms up! or play a game on my PC and then it REALLY gets warm haha

im pretty glad i don't have a roommate this year..but at the same time..kinda miss it..

Actually, watt for watt computers put out the same amount of heat as an electric heater.

Say you have a desktop that is running a 125W 6+ core CPU with 4 monster video cards in there that is folding in full force with all that to the point that it is consistently drawing 1500 watts out of the power supply, it will be pumping out the same amount of heat as one of these 1500 watt heaters and it will wreck your power bill just the same... I monitored my desktop when I was doing folding 24/7 and at about a 700 watt draw it will wreck the powerbill and nationally, Idaho power has some of the lowest rates in the nation. If left on for a month straight that would add $36.50 to my power bill, and that is during the winter and assuming I stay on the bottom tier. Just for perspective, my last powerbill was $24 not counting the standard fees they tack on.

    yea...oh well. Next time haha

i have an 8 core mac..not sure on power supply..12Gb RAM...i know its HOT on the exhaust fan when im cranking on programs like my audio stuff..which is to be expected..

ill take a pic of my PC tonight and show you the mother of load of heat sinks in that bad boy..haha i have an OC quad core and OC dual GPUs..but i don't fold..never have or will really.

I know my CPU gets up to 72-78ºC according to CPU Z when i stress test it at 100% load all cores..GPUs have gotten as high as 80º think..having used MSI Afterburner in a while. Has a 1000w supply though...it moves heat well though as i have the Antec 1200 case..so yea..it stays warm in here.

Was torture at my house in powell during the summer..no AC and on the 2nd floor..omg..my room would be so much hotter then the whole house..suuuccckkkeeddd.

You'd be surprised. haha We used to go hunting in my dad's old '73 GMC that the headers rotted off of so it was open at the headers. It had a 350 small block out of an El Camino that was bored and stroked to a 400. Would smoke the tires through all 4 gears easy. My dad actually out ran a guy who was running a 97 Chevy with a S/C'd 5.7L Vortec. That was actually hilarious cuz the guy thought he was hot shit with his new Pickup that was boosted and he got beat by this POS looking old as shit pickup.

Anyway, that thing was so fucking loud that there was no point in having a stereo because you couldn't hear it going down the road and we still saw and shot plenty of deer just road hunting. Granted it was 2 point only then and 2 points are pretty stupid still. haha

Ram doesn't matter much, because it is so low power and efficient nowadays. As for the PSU it doesn't matter whether it is 1000 watts or 100000 watts because you will only draw what you need, so that doesn't really matter either. An 8 core CPU will draw some power, but GPU's are what play the biggest role. 1 grapics card typically draws more power than the whole rest of the system combined. haha

Temps don't really matter either because they are just based on your cooling system. The CPU and GPU are still producing the same amount of heat overall, but if the cooling system is better you will see lower temps.

I know how that goes! When I was living with my parents the summer right before I deployed, they don't have AC and it was hotter than shit in my room because of my computer...

I only tried folding for like a week just to see what it was about and what not. It's too expensive to do on a regular basis though.

temps do too matter..as im sure you know..I mean..i have big heat sinks on everything and fans but air cooling only goes so far..and i have overclocked everything..haha so its all running on the edge..heat kills parts..much higher and my stuff will just melt..haha

yea i know you can get stuff to cool it better and all..but too much money. although the new seal CPU water coolers are pretty nice..not man fit a LGA775 socket anyways...and im not that into it anymore anyways..i had all water blocks though and a pump and resi...was all set to water cool the whole thing...even the NB and SB on the Mobo..haha sold it all.

    oh well. i don't care.

Haha. I do the same thing

This^ Its funny that some of you also use your computers to heat the house. When you have an i7 Overclocked to 4.2Mhz and a 7970 on a 27in 1440p monitor and a Yamaha amp, you can cook an egg near the system. :p

My wife consistently falls asleep at F1 races (she grew up around racecars) and it consistently pisses me off. Like dropping $500 to nap in a hard plastic seat is cool or something. I got her though, the last 24 hour race we went to at the Nuerburgring we walked the entire 15.2 mile 174 corner course, in the rain. She stayed awake for that one. :D

Well yeah temps matter when it comes to using the computer, but they don't matter in terms of the heat being output to the room is what I meant.

I run a sealed Corsair H60 sealed unit on my CPU. Was one of the first sealed water cooling units they made.
