No, crap in the tire the. Remount it on the rim.
Hey, if a bear did come, while Ben is busy trying to "kill" it with his buck shot we will hear the sound of the gun firig and will be running away while it mauls him

see and thats where your screwed up. You'd still stand there but for some stupid reason the gun gives you "protection" even though the bear would stop its charge on a bluff charge, you would still feel that it was the "gun" that help stop..even if you don't fire a shot.

the entitlement and "im powerful" feeling that people get with guns pisses me off. In all aspects of life.

Not saying i don't like guns. I like shooting them..but i hate how we as humanity embrace them in general.

    Just stupid.

And here come's the gun debate...was inevitable considering most the debates that happen in here..

That is a much more humane option. Pretty sure if I had a 12 ga in my hands with slugs or buckshot I could stop a bear in its tracks as well.

Me I'll just hope to not have a run in with one. Lucky for me we don't hardly have them at all in South East and South Central Idaho.

Black bears are actually more dangerous and much more aggressive then Griz's.

They tend to avoid humans though and loud noises. We are plenty loud around the campfire that im never worried.

    Those are completely useless also.

When I did a 10 day backcountry field work trip in the Sierras I had that plus bear bells etc.

Came back and read a few articles that spraying it with pepper spray will only REALLY piss it off and do nothing more. Unless you somehow directly hit it in its eyeballs, which probably isn't happening during your fright or flight moment.

We're talking about gun control, ethical treatment of animals and bears...

    ... in his build thread...

... all because I posted a spoof pic of Monte's tires when I cleaned them off and wrapped them up under a tarp.

    Long live TW.

I wonder how that info has changed over the last 20 years and what kind of guns the people were armed with during the bear encounters. I can see being armed with a pistol or rifle as iffy, hell even slugs in a shotgun because accuracy will be key to stopping the bear in its tracks at that point. Like I said would be cool to lay out the details of survival rate based on each ammo/fire arm type.

At least with a firearm you will take the bear with you. I would hope that you aren't such a bad shot to have at least mortality wounded him before he killed you. haha

Yea bear spray you definitely need to be up a person with the bear for it to work. and if the can is a few years old, might not even work much.

Monte, what do you recommend for auto trans maintenance?
I've read of several folks that drain a few quarts and add back at every oil change, then flush every 30k or 100k miles.

Id check it every time you change the oil or every 10k at least. But unless it looks real bad i wouldn't drain and replace a few quarts. Id just flush every 30-40k.
