BTW if it broke because you dropped it just don’t tell them you dropped it. I’ve dropped my phone at least 50 times without any issues other then my very first drop. The first time I dropped it the touch screen stopped working and apple replaced it. I’ve brought my phone to apple for every little issue and every time they replaced it; I’m on my 6th iphone.

No, there is no trade in/upgrade program. I've asked!!! But for me I can sell my iphone for $300-$350 re-new my contact which is only 8 months old and pay $199 for the new Iphoen 3GS.

    Not true.

Their offer is the same offer they offer to other AT&T customers. If you are currently in the contract, you would have to pay $200 above upgrade price. Let's say you were eligible for an upgrade and would like an Apple iPhone 3G S, it would cost you $199.99 + tax for the 16 GB model. If you were in contract and not eligible for an upgrade, that same phone would run you $399.99 + tax and a contract renewal.

The only ways to get an iPhone 3G S are:

    • Eligible upgrade (reg price, $199.99/$299.99)
    • Non-Eligible upgrade ($399.99/$499.99)
    • Add-a-line ($199.99/$299.99)
    • Retail ($599.99/$699.99)

Realistically what is a typical monthly bill for iPhone service?

I need only about 300 minutes and 200 texts and unlimited internet.

The lowest voice plan is 450 minutes, and its $39.99 a month. At&t has a stupid policy that everyone with an iPhone has to pay an extra $30 a month for data, which does not include texts. Since the iPhone has Wi-fi, I don't see why they need to charge you that $30. But it would look like a plan with 200 texts would cost you $79.99 a month plus taxes and fees.

    Shoot!

The lowest advertised plan that is available is the 450 mins/month for $39.99/month. 200 messages would run you $4.99/month. The iPhone data plan is $29.99/month.

You are looking at $75 + tax. Tax and government fees are usually about 20-25%, so roughly $80-90/month.

Not everywhere has Wi-Fi available to people. I would much rather pay $1/day than $3.99/2 hours a day and be limited to a specific area. I am glad I have an unlimited data plan for my iPhone, or else I would not be completely satisfied with the iPhone's features. Features like Mail, Google Maps, Mobile Banking, Facebook, Shazam, Trapster, etc. all use lots of data. I use at least 1GB a month in just downloads. That would be $5/MB if I did not have the data plan. I do not know about you guys, but I want to save money.

People have asked before... Yes, Sprint is much cheaper ($99.99 + tax/fees), but your service has much less coverage, no international support, and slower 3G speeds.

The Palm Pre is a great phone if you are stuck with Sprint. I would probably go with that phone if the iPhone did not exist, but the idea of it being on Sprint draws me away...

    • $39.99 - 450 mins Nation Wide Plan
    • $19.99 - Unlimited Messages
    • $29.99 - iPhone Data

Total is $90 + tax = no more than $115/month.

If you are porting from Verizon and in a contract, it depends on how long you have been in this current contract. If you send me your info, I can get the exact amount for you. AT&T charges a one-time charge of $36 for a primary new line customer. If you got the phone from me, you would not have to worry about activation fees.

Phone number and last 4 of SS #. Also, a password, if there is one. You cannot buy it from me unless you are in my store, and we cannot waive the activation fee unless you are within my market.

Does AT&T offer a family plan for the iPhone? Can I get a deal if I get 2 phones or 2 lines both with iPhones?

iPhones are just like other smart phones (Blackberries, WinMo, & Symbian), they require a $30 data plan. You can pick any family plan you want, then just add $30 per iPhone on the family share plan.

Apple and AT&T only offer the extended warranty of the manufacturer's for another year...

You can get the Apple insurance in the AT&T stores. That's what I did. Mine covers two years.
