That's more on a narrower mounting point, center mount shares the same piece of metal on opposite faces, he still has over a foot between mounts, not saying it's bad, just not a true center. Looks like he just added lower brackets to mount to under the engine

It's that spindle 2mm from the tire that's throwing me off

I think center mounting a-arms is for prerunners only.
Even if you had a center mount diff, your a-arms would still have to be mounted the same distance apart as you cv's. Else they won't keep parallel throughout travel

It is 100% 2wd, but 4wd is pretty non existent in desert racing

When you center mount the diff you can add a couple inches or so to each arm length without widening your stance at all. You may not gain as much as center mounting the A-arms on a Pre-runner but you still gain some.

    FrontDiff_7abfaee9cc5d7fe8b00bc4d18b058a1b525eb07c.jpg

That is a pic of the front diff. it is offset to the drivers side. If you center mount it you can remove the part that says remove (I actually found that pic on the internet on the first search haha) and add that much length to you arms, it is something like 6-8" IIRC. Although it would require a diff designed for center mount.

Assuming that is 8", you could run A-arms that are +4" over and still have a factory stance. haha You could then run +7.5" arms and be the same stance as you guys currently running +3.5" kits.

There's a yellow 2nd gen somewhere here in SoCal, my friend Tom just did Mojave Rd with him and some other highly built Tacos.

The rear on that one is IRS, VW style.
