    Hi all,

Just got done with replacing the stock clutch with a URD stage three clutch and flywheel combo.

The other night the differential locked up when starting from a red light. Dealer said the rear carrier assembly needs to be replaced...$3100. I just put $1600 into this thing last week.

What should I do? I was thinking of getting a used rear carrier assembly and having the dealer install it.

My question is, what is my gear ratio?

2005 Toyota Tacoma 6 speed manual, LSD rear end, v6, 4x4

Thanks, any input would be awesome.

I wouldn't let the dealer touch the differentials on my vehicles. There's too many shops out there that actually know what they're doing when it comes to diffs/gears and do it often. Hell I took my mustang to a local reputable 4x4 shop to have the stock gears swapped out and they were happy to do it.

Just a question, the red highlighted portion wouldn't have anything to do with the diff going south would it? Rev it up and blast it?

    :)

Stage 3 Clutch - Comes with a dual sprung disc. It allows for aggressive street and track driving while at the same time still works well for daily driving. It is more aggressive than a full-face disc and will easily handle Turbo/NOS etc.

I would get a used rear carrier and replace it myself. Not hard at all.

I am at college right now...is it possible to do this in the parking lot? I know it's a stupid question...but damn, I can't afford a $3100 repair right now.

I figure youd have to pull the wheels off, then pull axles out, disconnect drive shaft, pull housing cover, remove carrier, install new carrier, put everything back together??

What's this solid spacer that you are talking about?

I live in Blacksburg lol. I think I may have seen your truck around. Unfortunately I don't know if any shops around that would do it for sure but call around and ask and see if anyone is willing to take it on. Sounds pretty straight forward for most shops though.
