Does your bumper stick out far enough for the swingout or are you gonna build off of it?

 

its sticks out maybe an inch in total, which makes this a challenge

thats why if you look at the picture the bottom parts of the spindles are half out of the bumper

 

Yeah that's why I was wondering. Figure out what you're gonna do about that?

 

thats for the advice Steven. appreciate it. if u dont mind me askin how much did ur metal cost u to do the entire bumper?

 

If I cant make it fit by shifting the spindles further from the bumper, I may just not center the piece of tube welded to the spindle

I actually bought the bumper from elite offroad I'm just modifying it to have a spare tire carrier

Yea the way steve is saying it it should work.

Why? cause that's how mine is haha and i have the same bumper.

only difference is mine was installed while the bumper was being made..and his won't be..so that could pose issues..

 

I'm gonna try it, I have everything at home to do it so I might as well make an attempt at it...

I may just need a spare bumper when I start in case I cant finish it in a weekend

Thats one thing I'm worried about, getting in those hard to reach spots with the welder on the inside of the bumper

hopefully in the next couple of weeks... work got really slow this week so theres a good chance Ill have a few forced days off coming up , so maybe ill take advantage of that

Oh OK man. I thought u were building one but this sounds easier though. That may be what i do then. i was thinkin at one time about orderin a entire swing out but i can see me spending a grand on one.

 

cost me 1300+ for my Elite w/swingout..was the protype too..plus..had to modify it..and did..a lot..haha paid for swingouts are very pricey. If id do it again..id just build one like Steve is gonna..hopefully..haha

 

Thanks Monte I think thats what i may do. I know a guy that has good welding skills and he might can help me make a tire swing out. If it was u though which one would u chose, Relentless or CBI? and too what type of base bumper would u get( like the model or so). just findin the best deal. hahaha!!!!

 

Okay so I started practicing welding again so that I can be positive I'm ready...
Im gonna practice some more this weekend if I can scrounge up some time, might actually build something

might need to find someone with a spare rear bumper so I can work on mine off the truck
