This. They do these things because there are no real repercussions. Go back to public hangings, violent, painful, sometimes the neck breaks sometimes they choke to death hangings. Prison, no more tv, no air conditioning, no weight room, you will have access to a well stocked library other than that you get a bed a cage and just enough food to keep you alive. the punishment for any violent crime while in prison is death. No more 20 year on death row sentences If you are found guilty of a crime punishable by death (and if it is punishable by death the penalty will be death, no more life sentences) you get an automatic retrial if found guilty then and I mean right then you are escorted around to the back or the courthouse and hanged. Trials are to be concluded within a six month period no extensions no more waiting no more bs. I don't care that its a poor kid with a fucked up family or mommy didn't love me or whatever you make your own choices. You can talk about socioeconomic problems or whatever excuse you choose to apply here but in the end It's not societies fault it's individual choices that count if you make the wrong choice you pay for it.

I've been in an institution before. It wasn't quite as hard core as all that, but it was plenty bad. Bad enough for me to never go back. As far as hanging people on the spot, do you know how many people have been found guilty of murder, or some other heinous crime, only to be proven innocent down the road? Not exactly the greatest resolution to the problem. Not to mention the fact that you could never get today's society to go along with it.

Now, that being said, I am absolutely in NO WAY siding with or defending those fuckbags. I was locked up with plenty of dipshits like that, and it's a huge reason I will never go back.

 

That's really funny. What I'm curious is if you replace "beef vindaloo" (whatever that may be) with something like "chicken marsala" or "moo goo gai pan"... no pun intended.

Its sad. The SCOUS has determined that it's a constitutional right for prisoners to have access to AC, cable television, educational programs, etc etc not to mention the nice warm bed and three square meals a day... all the things that many working Americans can't afford. Never mind the homeless, right? The abolition of chain gangs and forced labor, the electric chair, requiring the swabbing the needle injection site of a condemned man ('cause women never commit murders and such) with an alcohol wipe... all in the name of protecting a criminal from "cruel and unusual" punishment. Oh, whats that? You want justice for society and for the victim? LOLZ.

As Oliver Wendel Holmes once said, "this is a court of law, not of justice".

What makes this whole situation even more ridiculous is that the laws of the United States are some of the harshest in the world* however we are the most lax in enforcing those laws. Dilute the population of law abiding citizens with "rehabilitated" criminals who serve not even a fraction of their sentence or who get released on a stupid fucking legal technicality and you get the dissolution of a lawful country.

*because someone is going to say "der, them moos-lim countries chop off hands and shit". I said some, not the.

As ass backwards China and their government may seem to Westerners, they really understand certain things. A pharmaceutical company's CEO takes bribes, manufactures their pharms with tainted or poisoned ingredients, sells them to the public, and people die. What happens? The CEO is executed. They don't fuck around with "the corporation is a separate identity" bullshit that allows American and Western companies to do whatever the hell they want to do regardless of the impact on the consumers. If the immoral and or illegal actions of members of the company causes people to die, then they die as punishment. Have to applaud China for that.

Same thing goes for drugs. Manufacture or be in possession of >50g of meth and get caught? Once you are found guilty you are summarily executed. Bravo.
