Is the output connector the one that unscrews from the ballast? If so, you may be able to swap the D2S connector over to one of ours.

K&K surplus is where i usually go. They are off Brighton Blvd in Commerce City. They sell a lot of scrap which is cheap but they also sell new stuff by the foot too.

So I went wheeling up at Pole hill Sunday (it's open by the way). Guy in a Jeep brought a little electric chainsaw. It made short work of an aspen in our way that was better than a foot in diameter. I was super impressed. He had an inverter that he hooked up with jumper cables. I borrowed it, plugged it into my outlet on the truck and it worked! 9 amp motor and it seemed to work just fine.

A while back when I went wheeling with Sam, he had a hatchet that we used to clear a branch and I thought then that I needed to get a hatchet. Screw that! I'm getting a chainsaw!

Pretty sure THIS is the one he had.

Nice! My father in law has that one. It works well. I just need to get my full sized axe mounted to bed rack.

To me it seems like between the electric saw, the inverter, and an extension cord, it would be cheaper and easier to just get a typical gas saw.

I carry my little Husqvarna with me on every wheeling trip around here. Think its 43cc, 16" bar, and like $200. The beatle kill here is starting to bring down all sorts of trees. I've gone down trails before where I had to cut a tree on my way out that wasn't there when I went in. Plus if you do any trail clearing in the spring, I can't imagine a little electirc saw would be up to it.

But I tested it with my bed outlet and it worked. So all I would need would be an extension cord and I have those already. I guess there's still oil for the chain, but it seems it would be less messy than a 2 stroke gas chain saw.

I would have been skeptical prior to witnessing the trees he cut with it. I'm sold now.

I have the hatchet and a hand chain saw for the bigger trees. It's definitely not as fast as a powered one, but it'll rarely be used and it fits in a pouch the size of my wallet.

Although I'm sure it worked good and it would save room in the truck. I've used my bed outlet for power tools when I had my 2nd gen and it worked. I'm willing to bet with my 460 I would have that tree cut up and out of the way by the time you stretch that cord to the tree. For me there is no replacement for a chain saw. That being said the last time we encountered a tree big enough to stop traffic on a trail we just moved it to the side using man power.

What did your 460 cost though? Part of the thought process here is the cost involved to bring a tool that will work in a pinch. I am sure if he had a chain saw in the shed already it would be easiest just to put it in the bed and go. But if you are looking to buy something just for this, it appears the electric one is up to the task for a fraction of the cost.

No doubt I'm not arguing that it is the most cost effective way. I'm just saying that I would not replace my chain saw for another method. But I already had the saw. The one I have can be bought between $800-$1000. So yeah it's not with it if you are only using the saw to go 4wheeling.
