fluid film on rust??

07 dcab rust on underside and frame. Will the rust continue if i keep fluidfilm on it year round? Already tried por15 with no luck.

 

Never tried it for rust, I know it lubes like crazy.

Have a friend that builds specialty bodies and he swears by it for rust prevention, goes through about a case a month.

 

I guess i should have titled this post "fluid film sprayed overtop of existing rust", just want to see if it will stop any further rusting?

 

I think that's one of its claims. That it will stop that chemical reaction that causes it.

I'll let you know after this winter, I just sprayed it two weeks ago on my frame.

 

I've read it will stop rust from progressing.

 

If POR-15 (with proper prep) didn't stop it, then coating it with fluid film is not going to do any good.

 

I might spray some on my sentra, I'll let you know if it helped in april.

 

I have a 1950 dodge with no rust on the frame. My grandpa used to wipe it down with used motor oil once a year. It's free, and it works.

 

I followed their instructions to a "t" and one winter later the rust showed through, almost like it washed off or something!

 

Thanks after reading their quote i wonder if its more of a rust prep for removing rust?

That was quite popular, gasstations sprayed used oil directly to the underside. It worked, but think of the environmental downside.

 

I like this method.

 

I guess both removal and to stop it. That's what I get from it. I would think you don't have to remove it unless you want to since it stops its progression.

I've read a few members on here have used it and are happy with it. I'd give it a shot.

 

Wire brush the entire frame, apply a good rust converter with a brush and then spray paint with a rustoleum or similar. I use old motor oil over top of that. Then spray inside of frame with Eastwood internal frame coating. Takes days but really worth it. Although the fluid film will at least protect your frame through winter

 

Oil gets returned to the earth whence it came? We don't mine this shit on mars. Have you ever worked construction and paved anything? It's always funny to me how green weenies cry about a single drop of oil on the street, but don't think about what the street is made out of.

What about the signal poles and street light poles that are not in the yard?
