Hello from Canada. I used Meguires headlight restoration kit on my 09. I followed the instructions exactly and now my headlight looks like the before picture on the front of the box. Any suggestions. Thanks

 

You may have to machine polish them.

My fender flares are almost white from sun-bleaching. I've used some of the common products to turn the black again but they only last about a week. What works?

 

808 aerospace seems to work. And its spf 40 too. Just gotta keep using it on a regular basis.

 

I think you mean 303 aerospace. And yes great product...

 

If the flares are bleached almost white, you are going to need something more than 303. 303 is protects ok, but will do nothing to restore color. Check out Autogeek. I recommend staying away from Poor Boy's trim restorer as it has petroleum distallites in it.

Whatever you use for protection make sure you clean them very well before application. They really need a deep cleaning to remove the years of oxidation.

You might want to research a more durable "coating" after all the scrubbing to preserve your hard work.

 

I would like to clear coat some metal items I just purchased, they are already powder coated black. The powder coat is a more of a satin finish but I wanted them to match the other items which are a gloss finish.

 

So im thinking about buying

$21 collinite 845 insulator wax-easy to use carnauba+polymer wax sealant-high gloss shine+durable hydrophobic beading & long lasting paint protection for cars/boats/trucks/rvs & motorcycles (16 fl oz)

collinite 845 for my new wax. So far I've only used the otc stuff. Read some good reviews about it. And its pretty cheap. Anyone here have any experience with it?

 

I have a few friends that swear by the wax. It is a good choice.

Well for starters regular paint maintenance would probably help you out a lot. I see from your build thread that you like to do some serious off roading so I would suggest decent products that would not break the bank. Or phrasing it another way you really do not need a show car finish.

First would be a decent wash followed by a claybar of the surface.

If you have access to a random orbital buffer and some polish, maybe a friend has that, a decent polish, one time, to get your paint to a better finish. If not I would not suggest buying one as the cost is too high for a one time use. Now if you have other vehicles you might want to consider the $150 to $200 investment.

Invest in some decent microfiber towels, at least 6 of them.
After these first steps I would seal the finish with this type of product.
The final product would be a wax topper. Since you have a white finish I would highly recommend this product. I have it and use it on any white vehicle I detail.
The towels mentioned above work really well to remove sealants and buff out waxes.

wash it often and keep it garaged and don't park around industrial plants. Those stacks spew out all sorts of acid rain type contamination.

 

I just recently tried the 845 and I am really impressed so far. If you buy it, make sure you heat the bottle up in warm water if not the Collinite will be clumpy. I would also recommend getting a bottle with a smaller opening, so you don't waste the product.

Will let you know. It has only been on the truck for a couple of weeks. Wanted to get it on before winter. I actually have it layered over Adam's machine super sealant and then put a coat of Adam's Americana over the top of the Collinite. Probably overkill but want to protect it through winter.

There are too many variables to answer your question honestly but I think you will be pleased with the wax in question.
