I have heard of people using extension cord wires for cheap wire. Probibly not the quality you want but 1/10th the price.... just a thought.

Until you over pay. Copper wire is copper wire. You will be paying for addition strands, which makes it easier to bend and hide. Your ampacity will be the same, so long as the conductor size is the same.

I still suggest Knukonceptz, as it is very flexable and is a good price. But you can get an amp kit from Walmart and it will do just fine. 500w of power, I'd reccomend going 4awg. I think 8 has enough ampacity, but 4awg is common enough to still be pretty cheap and you have the ability to expand at a later time (or run something else off of the same conductor).

It will work just fine for ampacity. You may have some issues getting it to bend enough to easily put under the door sill trim and getting it to bend right at your amp, especially if you are using any sort of amp rack for the amp and distro blocks.

How much do you need, lsocoee? I have some extra 4awg in the garage. Just not sure how much I have.

 

The welding wire is actually really flexible

 

Then never mind. The welding cable that I am used to is not nearly that flexable.

 

Other than not having "pretty colors" you can't go wrong with it. Good choice.

 

yep, great call on the welding cable. I've used this stuff in a few other systems in the past. If none of it will be seen, this is the way to go. AND cheaper too. Win Win
