Here are a few pictures of different stages of my swap. Im not some master fabricator with years of experience. Im just a guy that had a truck, a few dollars to spend, and will.. lots and lots of will.... These pictures show a lot of the things that I dealt with. If you have any questions, please, feel free to ask!

New timing belts, It was kind of tough, and I wore most of the line up marks off trying to get it right. Its on now, and I know its right.

Stripping all the old auto trans wires from the engine harness:

Lots of pictures of different things the 1st time the engine went end. Most of these don't show its final place, but it shows what I had to work with.

First time the engine sat in the truck, No mounts, and the Tundra intake. The Tundra air box is WAY too tall. The hood would never even get close to the latch...

Last ride with the 3rz and w59.. I was kind of sad, but then not having and passing power reminded me that its going to be worth it!

I had to relocate the fuel filter. The 3rz's filter is mounted under the intake, the 3.4L's is mounted on the frame rail, however that puts it right up against the catalytic converter. So I had to relocate it. I ended up mounting it on the lip of the gas tank and bending the stock hard line down to the filter. On the other side, I cut the fitting off the sending unit and added a foot of fuel line:

Brand new bellhousing bolts... why? because all I started with was a block, intake, and manifolds...

6 minutes after I bought the 4.7L..... It came with a harness, but it had been cut, so instead of fixing it, I found another one.

The reason it was FS- Both intake cams had broke alignment pins... HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN????

Did I mention I started with nearly NOTHING? Here is an example of a lot of little crap I bought, hoses, brackets, A/C compressor, Alternator, Power steering pump, and the idler pulley....

    parts_zpseb2fdb19_fef645d8a7454a34956342da1ea71f99a5eee452.jpg

So mid swap, I decided I didn't have enough going on, I needed to upgrade my brakes. After a short search I decided the rear drums and the all 145,000 mile original hardware was leaving. I looked around and figured an FZJ80 axle was the best bang for my buck. 9.5" ring gear, full float axles, disc brakes, E-locker, AND its built by Toyota... Perfection...

At this point I am out of pictures for you. Wiring is tough to take pictures of, but as I get things done, I will try and make a point to get pictures. Like I said, if you have any questions or comments, feel free.

I had a few hours yesterday in the sunlight, so I finished up adding 16 new wires to the fuse block, and reconnecting the EVAP system. My main goal at this point is to get all the wires run to the glovebox area, and then start the real work. The devil is in the details.. :D

The wires hanging over the fender are all the new wires. I added 3 new relays to the fuse block, and 3 new fuses, and added pins for fuses to be used at a leter date. The extra fuse slots are just extras, you know.. for rainy day projects.:)

LS1-T56 swap, Z06 ported heads, cam, Titanium valves, Kevlar clutch. Now building a forged stroker (383) and all the ponies! Old setup was rod-knockin on heaven's door...
    I have a V8 too....

    Not a troll.

Great Job OP, I was originally starting with the 4.0 Coma motor and it was SUPER TALL, and the motor was junk.

Sent it back and started over with an LS1 from a 2001 Camaro SS with the T56 6-speed manual. I love it!

I was intending on keeping everything Yoda, but I am OK with an LS1 and am not loosing sleep over the bastardation of my Tacoma.

    Its only 2wd, a 98 Extra cab.

I think your doing a great job, keep it up buddy, for me the next stage is trying to stuff twin turbos in this sucker. 700hp here we come!'

    I just need money first..
I want to win the lottery but I guess I wont win without playing I suppose, lol.

SOme old pics of my swap from 2 years ago, changed a few things and rerouted the intake for a true cold air and a couple other minor details..

Props on the swap, I think the LS engines are great, but I wanted my truck all Toyota. However... the LS engines make a lot more power and have better aftermarket support... Is your truck "off-raod", or will it pass inspection, or does your area require it?

Here is a really bad picture of my fuse block. I added a few fuses, three relays, and a bunch of wiring. The one open relay position will be used also. I am just waiting for pins.

The pink fuse on the white wire will be mounted in the middle of the two large fuses on the lower left. The large relay will be mounted some how in the open area.

Here here is a Ford Windstar dropping resistor. This is going to make my single speed radiator fan, a 2 speed.
