Awww i was really hoping for snow! Is there any snow up around highway 2?? I really wanted to do some snow bashin

I was planning to go, but if its just roads & mud, I think I'll pass :/ ... I just did my annual clay bar, scratch dr, wax, wax, and buff, and I don't feel like ruining it already.

The snow level is dropping again, getting lower and lower as the week progresses... I'm sure there will be some fresh stuff down around 3000-3500ft by Saturday, at least according to WA DOT. Wasn't trying to deter anyone, just sharing what I found as of yesterday.

Its hard to say where the best place to find snow is since its so early in the season... I used to use the Terrain layer on Google Maps to find find roads and their elevation and aim for whatever the forecast was for snow level, but Google ditched the Terrain layer on their new maps. Stupid. I found it to be one of the more useful features. Now I rely on the DOT app... it has live cams of all the mountain passes, along with their elevation and forecast, then hunt for FS roads in the area that are similar in elevation on google maps. Here in a few weeks though, there will be snow everywhere out there. Then for me, the hunt is on for the roads least traveled without a locked gate so I can find the freshest deepest snow. Used to head up Tinkham a lot, but that's a joke now. Its traveled so much that any fresh snow gets driven on a packed down, you could drive a car to the top with chains. Denny Creek is a good one come late December. They don't close the gate, but everyone up there is there to snow shoe, they get pretty bent out of shape and have a hard time understanding why you're driving where they're trying to walk...

Here is the mountain pass report:
THURSDAY...MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS.
SNOW LEVEL NEAR 4000 FEET. AFTERNOON PASS TEMPERATURES NEAR 40. WEST
WIND IN THE PASSES 10 TO 15 MPH.
.FRIDAY...MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. SNOW LEVEL NEAR
    3500 FEET.
.FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY...MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS.
    SNOW LEVEL NEAR 4500 FEET.

Basically it might be a hit or miss in terms of snow. Won't stop me from heading up there but as of today there is not a great amount of snow.

That's for sure! I was going crazy sitting around my house yesterday, that's why I pulled out the quad and headed out there... I might tag along with you guys this weekend if nothing too important doesn't come up.

I have an M&P 9mm and love it. I bought a S&W Bodyguard for my wife and will eventually get an M&P shield sooner or later.

Keep in mind that you may want to carry those hand guns discretely. A full sized vs. compact handgun is quite the difference when you don't want to have the handle outlining on your side. Just something to think about since this is a fairly hefty purchase

Just give us a heads up so we don't leave the meet spot before you get there.

True, but since open carry is legal in WA and he lives somewhere where its not a huge deal to be carrying (unlike Seattle), it wouldt be as much an issue. Im not a very big guy, but i can carry my full sized M&P durring winter without any issues (gotta love big coats), but summer is a different story.

As much as I love my M&P 9c, I'm a lurker fan of the SP2022 in DA/SA. I'm contemplating getting any new polymer pistol in a Sig, FN or H&K platform to have something different.

I have a Walther PPS. It is a subcompact meant for CC so quite a different beast than the PPX but I will bring it on Sat if you want to take a look and check out the build quality. I'm partial to German makes it would seem cause I have an HK and a Walther.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
XDm has an odd trigger pull as well as one function I didn't like. I am not a fan of the grip safety it had either.

All open carry will do is warrant (unwanted) attention... but to each their own.

My CB should be up & running. It's just a little easier to communicate on the trail, but not a huge deal if it's too much of a PITA for you. I'd say leave the battery acid soaked CB at home and just enjoy the ride

I will have mine with me. We can get by with as little as two CBs technically.

Will it take a rechargeable? I can bring those for use during the day if you want.

ive owned almost all of these weapons, let me help... the sp2022 is too bulky for a 9mm, the xdm isnt the greatest shooting weapon for being a 9mm. the walther and the M&P were a tie id say and were both great shooting weapons.. id choose one of them.. look into the xds models made by sprinfield also
