    Some stuff...
Well, after searching the forum threads on this topic I decided to go with overlays. Bought some 35% pre-cut tint film from ebay and tried to install it on the rear tails, but my tint skills aren't up to par in this area. Even with a hair dryer I couldn't get the tint smooth. I don't want to go the Nightshades spray-on option either, as I live in the state of Nazi vehicle inspections and need something that is removable.

My initial intent was to get a very subtle tint on the heads and tails, but I guess I'm just sticking with OEM unless anyone has a better suggestion.

Probably best to just leave them untinted. I like how they look tinted but as was stated in another thread any good lawyer will most likely look for a way to shift partial blame your way even if you are rear ended. Not saying that they would be successful at shifting blame but it is just one more headache that you wouldn't need if you were ever hit.

As far as tinting the headlights go I "personally" want as much light on the road as possible.

I'd just get a very cheap set of tails and swap them out when needed. That way you can have the tinted tails for most of the year and swap them out during inspections. Also I'm sure someone on the forums or through craigslist would tint them for you.

Or couldn't you just use the nightshade and if u needed to remove it use paint stripper or something I'm sure there is some chemical that takes nightshade off? You can kind of control how dark the tint gets with the nightshade too.. i live in san francisco CA and i thought it would be an issue. I used nightshade like 2 years ago and so far no problem with the law. Just my .02.

niteshade your tail lights and get a second set to throw in for inspection... even the older red ones will work. If you have the LED ones i just left the LED brake lights clear and the backup lights clear so my brake lights and parking lights are unchanged from factory. keeps the law off my tail.

This is what I tried, but with all the curves and contours of our tails, I couldn't get the tint laid out without bunches and wrinkles after several attempts. I'm sure it's just a proficiency thing and someone who does this for a living could get it on the first try.

if u mix black paint and clear and spray them u can make them as light or as dark as u want. I just did mine and they look amazing! In direct sunlight you can see the red in mine still, and u can still see the lights pretty well. 1654054_693185397371319_1869802655_n_zps_b010e3a989227a8a008d9926031139bee6aa97c5.jpg
