You must not watch many murder shows. The stabbing is done after you get a huge life insurance policy and she is the beneficiary.

 

As foxworthy says, "you want enough life insurance to protect your family should something happen, but not so much that there's a bounty on your head" haha

 

I would list the govment as my beneficiary. Since I pay them now, why not pay them after I'm dead too.

The money would go into probate. Probate is when the state takes the money and the next of kin (family not on file) has to fight a lengthy court battle for the money. But when that happens, all that money can go to debts of the deceased.
