We could start in Dog Valley and go to Border Town then on to Gerlach so we actually go border to border. Just a thought.

Montello is literally on the border. go 5 miles North and you are in Utah
Never been to Dog Valley would be cool

Yeah that's what I'm saying, on the west side start on Dog Valley Rd and finish on the east side in Montello.

I'm down with that. Is there a reasonable route from Dog valley to Gerlach?

Would love to see some pics of this general area, attractions and trail highlights from the guys that frequent this area. I've never been that far north in Nevada.

I think you'd have to go through CA. Or hit pavement out to winnemucca ranch road

Here's a few pics. My buddy I was hunting with took a bunch while we were up there last week. I will try to get some from him.

Its going to be a bit of gravel road, some two track, most roads are about like the one in the 3rd picture. I think the roughest part will be over Merritt Mountain. It is pretty slow going with a bunch of rocks. Nothing real technical though.

Well, should we move this back into June? My Alaska trip got put off, so I'm open. I don't want to go too early and get too screwed up with run off and snow. Input please!
Here is a shot of the eastern part of the Jarbidge Mountains. This is just below the Wildcat Guard Station.

I might need to join you guys on this adventure. I'm relatively new to Nevada and have been thinking of doing an offroad trip around the state...very interesting.

Looks great in the pics to me, I'll take about anything that's across the state line. I get out of this state every time I get a chance. Trying to talk the wife into going, shes more of a Marriot/Hilton type of "Camper" but I think I can get a few more creature comforts by then and she will come along, that means I can bring my dog too, woohoo.

I like snow wheeling too, but with parts of the trails being up around 8k' elevation, its going to be drifts that are several feet deep... I don't like shoveling that much.

The shittier the roads/conditions the better IMO, all within reason of course :)

Great, so I'll slide off the side of the mountain first!
