I don't have a manual so I'm hoping someone here can help with this. My tire pressure monitor light keeps flashing even though the tires are fine. Is flashing an indication the system is not working? Used to be the indicator staying on was a low pressure tire but now it just flashes. How can I disconnect it it too? Thanks

If your tires are under 29 PSI then the light would come on(recommended through Toyota, but who runs that?). One of the sensors could be bad, broken, damaged. Did you hit something recently?

Its an '06 and no, I haven't hit anything recently. All the tires are at 35psi.

Is it supposed to flash on and off when activated or when malfunctioning?

This flashing indicates a broken sensor. This system cannot be disabled and should be fixed or you can just live with the flashing. Toyota will charge over $200 bucks to fix the sensors with replacements.

Steady on indicates low pressure in one of you tires including the spare. Blinking indicates a malfunction, bad connection or damaged sensor. There is no way to disconnect the sensor system but some guys have "fooled" the system by placing a second set of new sensors somewhere in the truck to trick the computer. Then keep an eye on the tire pressure manually. This I wouldn't recommend though. Just sayin!

Its most likely that one of your sensors is broken or the system is malfunctioning. This exact same thing happened on my 06' about 80 miles after buying it brand new. The light started blinking on the highway, called the dealer and they had to have to truck back to fix it at the dealership. When light stays solid means a tire is low, when light is blinking something isnt working right.

Considering you have a 2006, may be a dead battery in one or more sensors due to age.

If you don't care about having the sensors just take the dash apart and unsolder the led
    Another option...

id suspect the battery too. it is what 7 years old? most tire places can replace the sensors and reprogram a hell of a lot cheaper than any toyota dealer ever will. id go that route or as suggested disable it

Thanks fellas for all the good replies.

How simple is it to replace the batteries in the sensors? Is that a driveway chore or is the dealer/tire shop trip necessary?

The sensors really can't easily be disassembled ...and you'd need to dis-mount the tire in any case. OEM replacements are pricey, but they come up from time to time in the buy/sell/trade section.
Aftermarket ones are available from tire shops or from eBay. Either way your new sensor(s) will need to be programmed into the ECU. The dealer or a good tire shop should be able to do this for you.
