Give it some time. There isn't any instant shipping although that would be heaven

Turns out I may not have this on until about the week of thanksgiving. The guy I'm having it shipped to and who is helping me, his schedule and my schedule don't work until then. Hockey sure is fun but it gets in the way

I know this was all brough up earlier, but while you're waiting you might as well use the time to hack up your front fenders and the pinch weld.

Also, did you pick up wheel spacers? That would probably help you too.

No I haven't picked up wheels spacers. I was waiting to see if I want to stick with the 33's or drop a size. I was already told there would not be a restocking fee. And this will sound stupid but I really don't want to just start cutting willie nillie without having a plan.

Here's my thinking on it: If your getting duratracs under the inclination that they will be good snow tires for you, and good off road, the width will not help you. That wide of tire on our light trucks you'll be floating on top of the snow, and (complete speculation) might defeat the winter driving benefit from the duratracs to begin with.

Here's a comparison between the much more common 285/75
    [IMG]

Those would certainly help, both on snow and with installation. If duratracs came in 255/85 that's what I would have on my truck year around. Really its up to you, and depends on what your trying to get out of them. I know you said winter driving performance is important to you, so hopefully my 2 cents helps a little.

I will probably wait to see if the tires will truly work until I can get it off the ground in a good shop where I can cycle the suspension. I was kinda worried by the width of the tire acting like an ice skate around where I live. Don't want too wide a tire or ill be sliding around all over. I might return them for a 32 by 10.5 so I can not have to worry about it.

Will I need axle relocate plates? I have seen them around and my tires are creeping up on the rear of my wheel well so I've been considering them. Are they absolutely necessary or can I get by without them? Looking for help with this from the lurkers around my thread

I'm probably not the best person to answer this, but I'll add the little I know, now's when we need Adam to chime in again.

Axle relocation plates are most commonly used in conjunction with longer shackles, as the increased lenght of the shackle moves the axle. With your stock size shackles you should be fine.

Also, its an easy thing to add later, and would probably be best to decide on after you install your OME kit. After you get everything on, take a look at how centered the axle is, and go from there.

I hate to be the only one giving you advise though....

Get your lift on and flex the rear suspension. If the rear wheels are getting into the front (or rear) of the fenders then relocation plates can help to get the axle centered again.

On my truck the tires were contacting the front of the rear fender wells so I relocated the axle back 1" and got it centered in the wheel well again. Relocation plates are a cheap and easy mod to add if you need to.

You won't be "skating" with the wider tires. You will get better floatation in deep snow. There's a constant debate about whether it's better to have floation from a wider tire in deep snow or a narrower tire to dig down to more solid ground. Personally I prefer the wider footprint.

On hardpack snow I still prefer the wider tire because there are more tread edges in contact with the ground with a wider tire than with a narrower tire which should offer more traction. Just my opinion.

If you drop a tire size, I'd consider a 32x11.50

Always love that there is a plethora of information out there from you guys  thank you. Would I need new ubolts when and if I put the plates in?

Adam brings up a good point with differnces between deep soft snow, and snow packed roads. I still think narrower tires would be better for snowy roads, being you have more weight per area of the tire. At least that's what I've always understood.

As far as your Ubolts, if you are replacing them when you're installing your dakars, you should fine. I don't think its like you have to replace them every time you take them on and off.

Always a good idea to use new ubolts when you change them.

That's because rally cars on on hardpack and ice. Narrow is definitely better for that. Deep snow is a different story.

Is it the width of the tire that is bad in my case or is it the height? If I went with a 285/75r16 would it be better or go like a 265/75r16

The width will hurt with rubbing/clearance issues, that's not to say they won't fit. That being said, I wouldn't give up the height.

With my stock wheels, no spacers, and 265/75's, I rub the frame at full lock. Pinch weld mod is easy enough, but there are other factors to consider. Obviously the 305/70's will be worse. Do you know the backspacing on those wheels you have now?

I looked today in study hall and my ATX's have 4.5 inches of backspacing
