Note: I normally got all my aluminum from lowes, but I found out its a softer aluminum that bends easy and they jack up the price on you. I've been getting 6061-T6 aluminum from onlinemetals.com. T6 does not deform nearly as easy as the softer stuff. My Specialized mountain bike is made out of 6061T6. Its great stuff, and way cheaper online than teh lowes. The stuff they carry may be 2024.

Thanks for that. I figured they didn't have the best quality stuff.

No problem, yeah I never really knew the difference until about a year ago. I read over the properties of the types and was surprised. I had a scap piece of 6061T6 3/4" square and tried really hard to bend it, but it was not bending. Its supposed to weld and machine really well too.

I gotta get a free weekend.. This weekend the girl and I are babysitting her sister while her parents go to Cherokee. Plans changed so much last weekend that I didn't pick up the snowboard rack. It looks good in pictures and I can't wait to put it all together!

Good question. I've been like twice this year (too much time with other worries). Would like to get back at least once more before it closes for the season.

Sucks that half the good stuff is closed.

Went out to Fort Fisher the other day when I was in Wilmington. So much better than Carolina Beach. It's $12 until 8am the following day giving you access to 8 miles of beach, unlike CB, which is $20 for 1 mile of beach... Ft. Fisher is very peaceful. I would definitely recommend a trip there - Don't forget to air down ;)

And for everyone saying I would rub at full lock with 285/70r17s, you were right... I will say that I didn't ever do it with my Nitto's, but the new BFGs are taller and narrower - even though they're the same metric size. I only hit the plastic on the inner fender, that was when I was bouncing out of some ruts. Time for some trimming this week.

Yea we need to make a trip out there.

We also need to get up with the Va guys. There are a couple that are looking at coming down to ECGS to get gears/lockers done. They want to hit up Uwharrie afterwards. Looks like Ckeene9 is coming down Friday

When does it close for the season? Also, can you tell me where the trails are located? I've driven by Uwharrie so many times and seen the trails on the side of 24, and 49, but I don't know where you access them for 4x4s and DDs. I mean I guess you could pull off and get an OHV out there, but I don't know where the trails are for trucks and jeeps etc.

Hello RTP area TW'ers. I am planning to install my OME lift in the next few weeks and am trying to find a reputable place to assemble my struts that is reasonably close to where I live (20 min N. of Durham off 501).

    welcome

I don't know anywhere. Why not DIY? Youtube has many videos like this one showing how to do it without a spring compressor

I had never seen that method before. It actually looks much safer and easier than using a spring compressor. Thanks for the link.

I've used on a couple trucks now and it works well. Just be careful, I'm not liable for any harm. What truck do you have, let's see some pictures.

I have a 2006 DCSB TRD/Offroad with just under 70K miles, but the suspension has sagged significantly. I was originally just looking at getting new rear springs, and somehow I ended up with an OME with 886 springs & Dakars, front bumper, winch, and a set of FJ wheels. I have not decided what tires I am going with.

lol that's quite a jump :) I love my OME 886 with my ARB bumper. Dougs Chevy leaf swap and Wheelers 1.5" AAL I have has held up great. If you need a hand there's plenty of us around willing to help.
