Go to Purdue. Bsu is not a great place to learn to fly. Good school otherwise however!

In all actuality the program's resources are spread too thin, which leaves most instructors and other employees strung out, stressed and not helpful. If I could do it over again I would have gone to a different flight school that can handle the amount of students they have. There are over 500 aviation students spread between 10 planes and I think 8 instructors. They've successfully taken the funnest thing in the world and made it miserable.

Nothing worse than putting in your two week notice and actually having to work the last two weeks. After being here for a little over 4 years, I got a bad case of senioritis.

Tons of wind. Good regatta however we got 5th. We had a bunch of 2nd place and a couple firsts. After an equipment failure followed by a bad tacticle decision we got a deadlast that really fucked our overall placement. Overall it was a real fun weekend.

Fuck that, no job is worth spending the rest of your life as a vegtable because the equipment you jerry-rigged to work fell out from under you. I'm willing to go the extra mile to get a job done but not at the risk of my own well-being.

I know, and I'm not trying to cast stones (I've done plenty of stupid shit to get a job done but I try to exhaust any and all other options first). On our jobsites, we've really tried to get the individuals to think about the things they're doing and not just go at a task because their foreman tells them to. We want everyone to make it home to their families every night.

Idk what the water temp was but it was about 50 degrees and 25 knots of breeze. Wind chill was pretty high.

I know what you mean. Fortunately, the company I work for has empowered us to take matters into our own hands. We've really tried to push on the subs to be safe and, if they don't have the proper equipment or know of a proper and safe procedure to complete a task, we'll get the equipment and write up the task plan. Even when we find a sub doing something incorrect, we don't just throw him off the job because he'll just go do it on another job. We offer training to show them the safer way to go about their work and hope that it catches on. It's not a perfect system and it will always be a challenge but we're trying. We've teamed up with some of our closest competitors to share secrets on how to make jobsites safer for all while still maintaining productivity (that was an interesting day in the office, we had all of our competition in the same training class as us).
