My stock 2006 Tacoma 4X4 DCLB needs shocks and tires, so I'm gonna go ahead and get some new wheels too. The look I'm going for is squatty and bulldog-ish: I'd like to have the tires wider than the wheel wells. Not too concerned about lifting it much. So here's what I've come up with:

    - Bilstein 5100s in all 4 corners, with a 1.5" add a leaf in the rear as well

    - 16 inch 16x8 Eagle 137 matte black wheel rim 6x5.5 +6 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/29081328422...em=&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr)

    - 245 75 R16 Toyo tires (http://www.ebay.com/itm/161108306090?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649)

Of course, the best deal I can find on all this stuff is online, so I'd like to get it right the first time. Anyone see any issue with this setup? Any reason I'd need wheel spacers to get the tires out there? Any other suggestions?

I appreciate any help, insight, advice, etc. Thanks.

    - Matt

My only thought is, if u want the "squatty bulldogish" look why run 245s? I think it would look better with 265s or 285s if u could fit em

IMO I would go for a 265/75/16 tire will fill the wheel space better with the billies.. look into spidertrax spacers..

Sounds like a decent plan you got. What are you setting the front bilstein 5100's at? Also why wouldn't guy get some 265/75/16 tires?

I would go with a tad bit bigger tire especially since you are lifting some with the aal and the 5100s. at least a 265 70 if not 265 75.

I talked to Toytec and they said to put the front bilsteins at 1.75" to keep the factory stance with the 1.5" add a leafs in the rear.

I'll go with the 265/75/16's - they're certainly getting the unanimous vote from everyone here.

With the +6 back spacing on those wheels, does anyone know if I'll need wheel spacers to get the tires outside of the wheel wells?

agreed.. I would just buy this set up first.. if you don't like it.. when its time to rotate your tires buy spacers then

wheels with a 3.625 backspacing and -22 offset
you'll need to do some trimming though to eliminate rub

Those wheels will be 6mm further in than mine in my build thread. They will be flush. Mine barely stick out, more sidewall than anything....

The lower the offset number, the further out they will stick. Higher will pull in. For example, factory rims are +32, so they are in further than the wheel wells. Spacers just lower offset. 1.25" spacers lower your offset by about 32mm. So, your +6 wheels with -32 spacers will make your wheel stick out 26mm past your wheel well, plus any side bulge. (My 0offset wheels make the tread basically flush with the wheel well). Look at pictures of people with -12 wheels...imagine the amount they stick out, then double that...some with -12 have reported problems with minor rubbing, but more than doubling that problem, I assume you will have decent rubbing issues

The wheels I assume you want to stick out will have a -12 offset. If they don't make them with that offset, maybe look at different rims.

mine are -22 offset. bad rubbing with fenders at first (nothing a utility knife couldnt fix) and some rubbing on the cab mount at full lock.. especially in reverse. cab mount chop fixed that problem. no rubbing anymore :)

Here is my truck with stock TRD shocks, same as 5100@0, with 265/75/16 AT tires on 16x8 wheels with 0 offset and 4.5 backspacing to give you an idea. They do stick out slightly for a nice stance but nothing too aggressive. Those rear mud flaps are Husky's and are slightly wider for better coverage than OEM so with OEM flaps still on those tires will look like they stick out even more.

Note that with 265/75/16 at stock height with wheels with above mentioned backspacing and offset you can't run front mudflaps as they will rub.

I did 275/70r17's with the 5100's at 1.75. There isn't much selection in that size tire but a good compromise for the 285's.
