Legal help needed ASAP

Recently got in a car accident with my friend and he nearly lost his life. I was the one driving and now I'm getting charged with reckless driving. I was obeying the speed limit, no drugs or alcohol in my system, and the day of the crash it was rainy severely. Need advice on what to do.

Just got off the phone with one and he says I have a case but with my prior arrests it's going to be hard to get me out of this.

Speed limit means that is the fastest possible speed you are allowed to go. If there is bad weather/rain/snow/ice then the officer can in fact ticket you for going the "speed limit". Ive seen a few other threads talking about this over the years.

 

When I was 17 underage drinking, when I was 20 possession of a controlled substance and when I was 25 attempted transport of more than $10,000 cash across national borders. The last one he said it doesn't matter that much but a judge with bring it up. He said one good thing I have on my side is I'm 5 years sober and have proof that I have attended AA meetings for the past 5 years.

 

Friend isn't suing me state police are trying to charge me with it. The speed limit on the road was 45 I never inched over 30. It was my first truck first day driving it and I was babying it.

 

I have and like said earlier I have a case but hard to prove I wasn't doing anything wrong.

exactly, anything you write can be submitted as evidence against you, keep your conversations regarding the incident between you and your lawyer.

 

The accident report was done by a local officer he has pictures of the accident scene and my testimony along with my friend's. The state police are the ones charging me and the lawyer said why but I don't want post public.
