I am having the same issue Jerry. I am looking at different bearing options. There's several threads about it on TTORA. Glad to hear they covered it. I haven't pulled it apart yet, but mine is making the same noise as everyone else's that spit the balls out :(

No one really knows why yet. I have a hard time believing its the plates. Especially since Jerry said they reused the adaptor plates. I sense a bad batch of out of spec bearings.

on that TTORA link, in the first post, dood said his friend had a marlin box. didnt say what plates he had but he did have a marlin box.

So, my dual case setup is starting to make noise. It sounds like someone rattling a chain. My buddy, Dylan, had these exact symptoms on his 4 Runner dual case setup. His problem turned out to be the bearing on his rear adapter plate... it lost two of the ball bearings.

My case is an Inchworm, his is Marlin.
We both bought our cases within a month of each other last year. Has anyone else had a bearing issue with their cases? Does anyone know if this is a common problem?

My box has inchworm adapter plates and mine did the same thing it was just one ball but out the rear output is where it failed.

Is it still a bearing with a "filling groove"? Can you find out what bearing they gave you so I can get the same one? I was thinking about going with the original bearing Marlin and Inchworm used, just the 18-ball dual row Conrad style bearing.

I didn't really look before I installed it. It just looked different from the one that poped out. If I knew this many people were having problems I would of took a ton of pictures and got more info.

I'm a little late to the party but eff it.

That was my case in the 4Runner. I blew mine up at Rock Therepy and had to drive it back back home too. Sounded like change rattling around in the dryer the whole drive home :goingcrazy:. Mine is a Marlin case but both Marlin and Inchworm use the same adapters. I pulled the case out and sent it back to Marlin and they rebuilt it with new bearings and they put on one of their older non clockable adapters. So far so good but they are working on a new design of the plates and supposed to send me one once its all sorted out.

Inchworm overnighted me another bearing with the filling grooves in question, and is looking into a different bearing type for this application. They are going to send me one of those too once they determine exactly what they are going to use.

I had a little noise issue with the hubs wile turning they were making a clicking noise every time I turned or hit a hard bump. Today I did some trouble shooting, with the hubs locked the clicking went away. So i pulled the wheels and checked a little further. I found the hub cap was hitting my wheels and not fully seating when tightened. I tuned them down 0.0800" on the lathe and no more clicking! I love simple shit like that

I got around to starting the tire swing up on my bed rack oh yeah i said swing up! This truck is over the top so i had to build it over the top as well. Its going to have two 90lb gas springs to lift the tire up for bed access the tire mount itself will fold down to the ground so i can load my big ass tire on without braking my back. Two toggle clamps will hold it all down wile driving.
