Dude, you friends with Honnold? That'd be craazy! I've seen a few videos of him climbing. It was crazy to see him doing the half dome free solo in your picture and whistling as he was climbing like it was no big deal.

 

What setting does everyone shoot snow photos on? I shot those 2 photos on f8, iso 200 and shutter speed on 100. Any advice and how well are those 2 I shot?

 

It sounds counter-intuitive, but try over exposing about a stop for bright snow pictures.

Your camera's reflective metering sees the scene as middle grey, so since snowy scenes are usually so much brighter than middle grey it will try and dim things down a bit.

The opposite is true for very dark scenes, like a play or dance in a dark house/stage with a few spotlights. It will think the scene is too dark and try to brighten it up.

So underexpose if it's dark and for snow, overexposed of it's too bright out.

Other than that your setting are fine. Aperture should be around 8-11 at least if you want everything in focus (depends on camera/lens/scene) and for the one with the tree you seemed to want a smaller DOF so a small aperture number is in order.

Keep your shutter speed above 1/focal length. So if you're shooting at 18mm on a crop sensor that is the FF equivalent of 27mm. Shutter speed should be around 1/30 or faster to avoid blur.

ISO, keep as low as possible without letting shutter speed drop below 1/FL. Or get a tripod, then you can leave it at 100-200 and leave the shutter open as long as needed.

I'll get in on this. Supposed to be snowy Saturday, but clear up on Sunday. Maybe it will break early and I can get a fresh powder sunset shot.

 

I don't have a lot of personal time to go shoot unfortunately Gotta finish a shit ton of school projects and I'm getting married on the 23rd.
