ok so my dads birthday is coming up...Short story:

he hates truck "sounding" horns (by truck i mean like semi) so i went to pepboys and got these compressorless air horns that replace the stock horn. i am going to put them on his truck as joke since he thinks his horns are hybrid sounding.

    Problem:
where is the horn i can find it and its killing me on my mom minivan i can see it right by the radiator put i cant find it on my dads 1997 tacoma (same as my truck but 2wd haha). i looked on my truck to still no luck.

off topic question 2: what size is the stock exchaust piping on a 1997 4x4 tacoma? i am going to by a muffler and need to know what size inlet to get.

    Thanks
    Wolfgang

If you are installing the horns as a jopke, then wire them to a turn signal, or brake light.

thats what i thought there was a theard about mine and it sounding like my truck might have a belt but she doesnt...HAAAAAAAHHHHHAAA...

i thought about doinging something like that (with the horn) but then he we just just be pissed, everyday when he drives my sis to school we honks under this bridge to have the sound echo because my sister thinks its funny (she is 6) so we he honks now.....you know.... as long as i can figure out how in thye world to install them.

another question on the new muffler sound i get a 2.25 inlet/outlet muffler even though the piping is that size how would i go about connecting them (i am not going to weld it till i decide i like the sound) shouldn't like one pipe fit inside the other pipe?

Thanks again guys hope fully i will get the horns installed today as my dads birthday is tommarrow.

yeah it will fit in there. it should anyways. and you can buy clamps to keep them together. go tot an autoparts store and tell them that you need clamps for a muffler. they should be able to help you out. then when you get ready to weld it, just take the clamps off

ok great thanks guys. so even though the muffler is 2.25 and the pipeing is 2.25 they will still fit together?

one more question with the horns...i found my horn its a small little thing but i cant figure out how to get to it short of removing the grill. So i tried removing the grill but i couldnt get any of the bottom click tab things to open up so i just gave up and went to put the top tabs back in place, and none of them will pop back into place, its like a broke them. So how in the world do you dudes go about removeing the grill? i figure since the tabs are already broken i might as well keep going and try to find replacments (oh boy...)

    thanks wolfgang

Brake light is good, but he'll notice it right away. Turn signal he may not notice it until he's down the street a little ways.

Exhaust piping is fit together by mechanically expanding (stretching) a short length of the end of one pipe, so that the other pipe will fit tightly. You then put a clamp on the joint, slightly compressing the joint and locking the pieces together.

(ETA: Check to see, but I think your intermediate and tail pipes should be expanded, so the muffler inlet and outlet will each slip into their respective pipes.)

ok thanks guys well his birthday is over and i couldnt get the grill off, but my moms birthday is coming up next month so i will try again, on that note how do you get the grill off i cant figure out how to work the little plastic tabs at the bottom mounting part of the grill. I think i actually broke all of the top mounting tabs, because when i went to put the grill back on after i tried to remove it none of them would click back.

i would try the brake light but i feel like the horn will be better considering i am not going to tell him and if an airhorn comes on everytime he hits the brake he will just get mad and take my truck to work. same with the turn signal too.

HOW TO I GET THE GRILL OFF A TACOMA WITHOUT DAMAGING THE DANG TABS AAAHHHH!!!
