Petroleum is fossil oil from the ground (or a synthetic product with the same properties).
Outside of the US, "Petrol" us used to refer to gasoline because of its origination from petroleum.

Peanut and sunflower oils are vegetable oils and are not petroleum products.
Likewise, rendered animal fat is an "oil" but it is not a petroleum product.

I think I need to get on the ball with the rust...

Will the fluid film help with active/live rust?

It may help slow it's process, but it's not going to fix that hole.

My '05 in the salty north looks waaaayyy better than that! I'd start scraping and wire brushing that rust pronto, paint then put FF on.

yeah it will. You will have to keep applying it though. I spray under my whole truck before every winter when they start salting the roads.

My 03 was that bad or worse! I achieved success with rust converter (the milky stuff) and then rustoleum after the converter cures. You want to remove loose rust scale but not down to shiny steel. The converter chemically reacts to the rust and the topcoat seals it. Eastwood internal frame coating is a must. Easy and fast, best investment you can make in your frame. I made it with one can but two would be choice. Nobody wants to do the prep work but this is the only way before spraying fluid film or any protectant

Before you do anything yourself, you need to make an appointment with a dealer and get your frame rot documented. Especially that hole. There have been a couple reports of individuals getting frame replacements from the factory/dealer.

Did you ever stop to think about why you change motor oil? If you insist upon using motor at least buy a gallon of new oil.

Didn't answer my question oh learned one what is it and how much? Must be a damn small percentage if it's nontoxic and not listed on the MSDL. Petroleum also covers kerosene, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel etc. they would make a far better product to produce a vapor and would evaporate.

Yeah the TSC in Canada has the same logo as the US TSC but the US doesn't carry it. I too was surprised Amazon didn't have it either. I ended up ordering direct from the website it was $5.00 shipping for 4 cans it comes in packages of 2 cans minimum order. You have to use PayPal to pay for it and they do the CDN to US for you. The exchange rate is pretty close to even right now. I hope it hurries up and gets here, I want to coat my frame with it after I drill holes in it to bolt my sliders up. Next spring I will remove them and shoot Eastwood frame converter on the inside after it builds up a thin (hopefully thin) layer of rust. Which should function much like the magnetite layer in boiler tubes.

I just prepped my truck for the winter in Vermont. I've seen a lot of comments regarding painting and rust preventative, scraping and priming. I can't see how this could be successful given all the nooks and crannies found in the frame that you can't possibly get to successfully. I bought a gallon of bar and chain oil and sprayed mine. This seems to be a much better solution and every area of the frame is covered. Gaps and cracks get filled as well.
