The fires in Tesla's were (as I was told) not malfunctions, but due to either driver error or uncontrollable circumstance.

All three were caused by debris penetrating the lower part of the car and damaging the batteries.

I think if you saw the same type of damage in say a 7 series BMW or Audi A8, you probably would not see fire but could easily suffer a similar amount of damage to the undercarriage (maybe even penetration into the passenger compartment).

The most recent fire was caused after a driver who ran over a trailer hitch on the highway.

So what are they going to do to prevent that from happening again, install some sort of skid plate type thing? I'm concerned about my cousin because she just got one last week but of course I'm not going to ask her what kind of BBQ sauce she wants to bathe in...

I don't know-I don't work for Tesla but in the case of at least one of the fires, the owner admits seeing the hitch and not moving to avoid it. So for starters, becoming a better driver would be high on the list. Adding some additional structure might help but in all three cases, no passenger was harmed-not by fire and not by the whatever coming through the floor (and as I meant to imply, the damage would still occur if you were driving a similar style vehicle-while you may or may not have fire, you would most certainly suffer similar damage. Don't forget, there are certainly far more car fires that are not Tesla related every day.).

With a flu shot, they are controlling things to some extent. And arguably, creating more resistant strains at the same time.

Reason i get the shot is because the general public is absolutely disgusting and the flu changes so much season to season.

Anyone down for a Lagunitas Brewery Trip? Grab a few cold ones, some food, and some live music? If there is interest - lets plan a day/time.

Hmm, I hadn't heard a conspiracy theory on flu vaccines before!
Of course, I can't say for potential other things in flu shots, but the primary constituent is changed year to year based on the current year's virus. I don't remember exactly how much viruses evolve resistance to vaccines over time, but I think you're thinking of bacteria (where super strains have developed like MRSA, etc, that are resistant to most if not all of our antibacterials). People should really be more concerned about antibacterial soaps and hand sanitizers for that argument.
The main push, from the population immunology standpoint, for many people to get flu shots is to prevent an outbreak of the virus (pullin' this from sophomore year biology...). The more people that are immune to the virus, the less likely the virus is to be passed from person to person. That way, if most of the healthy people that can take a flu shot are immune, then the weak (elderly and children) that can't take the flu shot are still protected.
Besides, then you don't have to actually contract the flu to become immune!

Or just have her make a comment on your account with a little identifying statement. That'd be cool to hear from her!
What group is she with? The Student health and wellness center or UC Davis medical group? I just switched over to the UCD medical group at the beginning of this year.

Not thinking about bacteria like MRSA. I do agree with you on the use of anti-bacterial soaps, etc. There are definitely times you should use them but most of the time, soap and water is best.

Flu vaccine is developed more than a flue season in advance and it's usually designed to combat what ever they think will be the current strains of influenza for the vaccine's 'season'. And sometimes, they totally screw their guess up :

There's definitely a group of people who believe in the whole "mandatory immunization is BS" thing which is difficult for me to understand-but this is something that goes well beyond a flu shot. To me, you either get or don't a flu shot and my experience has been it's hardly worth it for me so I don't get one. The other stuff, like polio and measles, is pretty important to me.

    Population control.

People think population control is preventing people from breeding, but this is quite the opposite. The flu shot is a scheme perpetrated by a secret gov't organization to keep unsuspecting citizens like us healthy and breeding. The more people there are in the world, the worse conditions will become. Overcrowding, Global Warming, Pollution of the air and the Oceans will only get worse as the world's population grows exponentially because of one thing.

    The flu shot.

At some point in the future there will be civil unrest and the government will become stronger and more totalitarian. The United States, the last free country, will become a police state and all the other governments of the world will be able to combine without any resistance from the American population.

    That's the gov't control scheme.

    Don'tcha know?

Hmmm...I haven't read enough to know how accurate their prediction ends up being, but I feel like since it's just a little shot and people who are healthy and get it won't have trouble with the shot, then people who can should do it. Of course it's not free for everyone, so there's that...

 shit man, my life is a lie! Why doesn't the media cover this!?!?

They just need to be 'close enough'. I don't know that they've missed wildly on too many occasions but they do.

I don't want to make a decision as to whether you should get the shot or not. I think for some, it's a great idea but for me; not worth it-if I thought it was something along the lines of a polio/measles benefit, I'd probably do it.

I think if you do want it, it ought to be low or no cost.
