Do to some unfortunate circumstances I need to sell my truck. Im kinda weary about craigs list for a higher priced item like a truck. What do you all think is the best way? Do you think I could get 25k for a 2012 DCLB with 25k miles?

    I wouldn't pay even $20k for a brand new 2wd lol.

How much was it new? Most of the ones around here that are 2wd go dirt cheap, most are access cabs though so the DCLB gives you an advantage

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
    i use craigslist, and ebay.

Ebay is much safer. BUT craigslist can be good.

when i list something i list it as call or text me at 785-77seven-1nine41 and that limits the number of asshole spam.

I dont mess with the email at all, and i ONLY deal in person. Never meet at your house or give your address out always pick somewhere close but public.

I don't do paypal, checks, shipping or anything else off craiglist. When anyone or any spam asks i tell them specifically that i ONLY do deals in person. If they respond with anything that sounds fake, or retarded i reply "stop" and (works on some of the automated BS) and then if its ever bad enough i add them to the block list.

I traded in my 2012 dclb trd sport with 19,000 for $24,000. Just to give you an idea. The last car I sold was on craigslist. I did cars.com but the people who contacted me from there were sketchy.

    Just be smart about it.
Never meet at your own home, pick a public location nearby.
Kelly blue book your vehicle for its value and compare to similar trucks on craigslist.
Buy a counterfeit bill pen and check the bills, I only accept cash form craigslist deals never a check etc.

Use NADA for a value, the banks repect NADA values and could't care less what KBB says. I say that because most people will be financing to purchase it, and private party so they will be calling a bank.

I've had the best luck with using autotrader. I've sold 4 or 5 cars on there. Many people see it on there and it's not creepy like craigslist.

I sold my last 2 cars with autotrader.com fairly quickly. My truck sold in 3 weeks and I priced mine between kbb and what they were selling for on autotrader.com

U guys that sold on clist, did you meet and let them drive it with you in the car? That's what would worry me, some idiot taking on a police chase. I might be selling mine as well to upsize to a TUNDRA.

if you are really in a hurry, selling to a dealer works too. I have done that before out of sheer necessity.

you lose a few g's but it is a right-now kind of deal and they usually don't care about the worn tires or whatever.

figure what its worth, or compare it to another similar truck you have seen for sale. knock 1500$ (or more if it needs work) and say "hey if you want a quick 1500$, you know you will get this much, and im only selling cheaper"

free money for dealer, plus the person that buys it will finance through them as a bonus. they bite every time, but you HAVE to let them make a little. don't hardball too much

Use cars.com. I've sold two cars using craigslist. If the reply sounds fishy, delete it and move on. Never had an issue, just be patient on the replies as you will get plenty of lowball offers, trade requests and people asking if you will ship the car (scam) and take a check that can't be cashed for 15 days.

I have had really good luck through Carmax, although from other comments I've read I may have gotten lucky. As you say, it's fast. And you'll take a beating compared to a good private sale, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Ive never had any personal issue like that lol, but i have had shit randomly stolen etc and there is no need to have a business transaction with a random joe shmoe from the interweb at your home adress.. With all of the scams, and shady people its too easy to just go down the road and meet at a gas station.
