I have one I almost forgot about:

I had a friend in highschool I was working on his truck with, and his aunt and grandmother showed up at his garage saying: "would you guys care to walk through her house, the light in the attic is on."

There were three of us and we were like "umm yeah sure? but why?"

So, this is his grandmothers house. The grandmother and the aunt had been at the hospital all of the following two days. When they came back to the house that night, there was a light in the attic on. His aunt was a bit freaked someone had broken in, and thats why they stopped by to see us to make sure.

We go over there, walk through every room, check everything, nothing weird. We go into the attic turn the light off and all is good.

Turns out there was a story behind this..and his grandmother was afraid to enter the house because of the light .This woman was about 89 years old and told us about a murder that took place there. A previous owner use to run an illegal gambling operation out of the basement and would use the attic light to signal fellow gamblers in who knew about it, that there was a a current game going on. The guy was one of those types who kept all his guns and money etc.. in the house and did not bank much.

One day, he came home and someone was robbing him, the thief saw him in the other room and shot at the wall to scare him as he drew his own gun. Out of sheer luck, the thieves bullet went thru the wall and struck the owner in the head. He died on the living room floor.

We all know somebody that will bullshit you and say "someone was murdered here" etc etc.. but his grandma showed us the plaster in the wall where the bullet had exited...we told her we diddint believe it and she let us move a floor rug to reveal the dark stain in the hardwood. The location of the stain was definitely in line with the hole. On top of that she had a newspaper clipping of the murder! I was like  this one actually checks out. pretty fascinating. As I recall the murder took place in the 1980's

I asked her if the place was "haunted" jokingly and with a dead serious face she told me that one morning about 6am she heard footsteps coming down the stairs to the kitchen, she said "good morning honey" to her husband, but when he did not answer 5 mins later, she realized he was still in bed...and that sometimes they would find that light on in the attic, afraid that someone who knew the previous dead owner..had broken in and was screwing with them...

I dunno. probably the weirdest true story I have ever been exposed to in person. I experienced nothing "supernatural" there, but this woman did not seem like the dramatic bull-shitter type of person.

I need to search for that newspaper article.

I have another story to tell.
When I was about 20. My brother, uncle, and I planned on doing a camping trip. At the time my uncle lived in an old rustic cabin (it was actually on a historic registry list), only one bedroom that you had to climb a ladder to get to. Very small. I wana say it had been built back in the 1800's.

The cabin was a good ways out, so I decided to have someone drop me off that night so I wouldn't have to get up super early because my brother was going to be meeting us early the following morning there, then we were leaving.
I had been to the cabin previously to go shooting etc. My uncle had mentioned he was having things happen in the cabin. Like things moving around etc. And there was a lamp beside his bed in the room where you had to climb up the ladder. He said he would always be mindful to make sure to turn it off and when he would come home later it would be on.

Anyway the night I went over before the camping trip we were sitting on the couch in the small living room, it was just me, him, and his dog which was on his lap. I was still up and it was late probably around 2 in the morning, I couldn't go to sleep so I was watching TV. He had drifted off asleep along with his dog. When all off a sudden I see his dogs favorite squeaky toy (which was a little frog a believe, that squeaked when you squeezed it) go fly across the room about a foot off the ground, as if someone or something had bent down picked it up and lobbed it about five to six feet. When it hit it the floor it made a little squeaky chirp sound. Well there was no doubt what I saw, I was wide awake (had not drifted at all). I woke him up and told him, and he was like I told you things were happening in here. Anyway I didn't sleep. Like I said we had talked about things happening there before, while we were there, and it was almost like whatever it was, was showing me hey I'm here, he's not joking.

Well it wasn't long after my uncle ended up moving.

Strange thing about two years ago I just happened to catch the news and that cabin was on there. It had caught fire and burned down, they couldn't find a cause.

He had moved out years before.
I saw it had burned down like two years ago.
Who knows it may have been an electrical fire.
Either way, when I saw it on the news and how it had burned, it was kind of erie, after having the experience there.

    Told by my Dad.

His first wife was ill when they left the UK (around 1945) for N. America.

On the boat mid Atlantic a man (Dad had never met, spoken too or seen before) dressed all in black approached my Dad and told him that his wife was very ill.

She was dead before they reached N. America.

I have two other ghost stories (didn't happen to me but to a good friend I'll share, later.

Okay really? So you got a picture of a "UFO" and decided it wasn't worth framing or making a digital copy?? C'mon...

Anywho i have an odd story.

Say about 5-7 years ago my mother and I were driving back from the Motocross races on a late Thursday night. We were heading West on a two lane road through the city. About 2 miles infront of us is a bridge which passes over the river and directly on the other side of the bridge is the hills (1000 ft elevation hills). As we were driving towards the bridge we saw a bright green light falling from the sky. Nearly like the flame on the end of a flare gun. But at two miles away it seemed to be the size of a car. The green light came down INFRONT of the hills so we assumed whatever it was it landed in the river. We immediately questioned each other if we really saw that. My mom's first thought was to turn on the radio because it would be all over the news. Then as we drove over the bridge we looked into the river and there was no sign of anything. That night and for the next few days we watched the news constantly expecting this "UFO" like story to come up.

Needless to say, we never heard a thing. It seemed impossible we were the only ones who say this green light object. Of course it could have been a dip shit with a flare gun or other reasonable explanations. But....who know.

Along the lines of the evil speak. For some reason the movie "Fallen" kind of always made me think. Always found it creepy. Good movie, if never seen it.

    Great thread.

I dont believe in ghosts but I do believe in life outside of earth. There is so much we dont know. Human life is less than a blip on the radar of the vastness of the cosmos

I'm no astrophysicist but that sounds to me like you saw a meteorite falling.
I too have seen one very close by and it was also glowing green with what looked like a trail of sparkles behind it and fell extremely fast. Only saw it for a couple of seconds.

Here's some clips of one falling.

If I'm not mistaken this was the same one.
