still nice for a back up though yes. i still carry my piss ant compressor..probably overheat now though doing 35s..haha

 

Got 265/75 R16 Guard Dogs installed. Really like them so far. They rub on the frame at full lock on the right side but that's it.

 

a friend of mine "ported" his and intended to buy a nicer one when he had less stuff on his list. Ended up keeping it because it works so well.

 

Your an incompetent idiot that shouldn't even own Co2 if checking its level and getting it filled isn't on your list of shit to do before a big trip..

that said..a 20lb bottle is a TON of co2..plus lockers barely use any at all.

another good back up for lockers is paintball canister. It'll articulate locks a few thousand times..you just need the right bottle.

Thanks everyone! I really do appreciate all the advice, it looks like I will go with a fresh leaf pack. I talked to deaver suspention today and they said their off-road pack of leaf's should cure my axle wrap problem.

 

Yeah, running out of c02 isn't really an issue. My 20lb tank will last me quite a while.

I can air up a set of 33's a just under 10 times or so depending on other factors. And much faster than a compressor as well.

I have lost count how many trucks have used it to air up..a lot though..even on The Epic trip people used it just cause it was so much faster for us..

i bet its around half empty? after a year of real good use..

I definitely recommend the C02 for your needs. I probably wouldn't bother getting a compressor if I wasn't wanting a front locker.

CO2 is hands down faster..we all know that..

But bit a pain to store..

Compessors never run out..so long as you don't have an electrical issue..which can happen. More then just fuses.

Co2 will run air tools no problem. You need a big compressor and/or tank to do that, more space.

Co2 if plumbed to run lockers is a dry system. Air compressors can let water into the lines..not super common..but never know..

generally, need the truck running to run a powerful aircompressor. Not a big deal..usually. unless your one of 2-3 compressor with 12 trucks to air up like in Moab or something..haha

they are both good. Both have pros and cons..

all i know is once i get dual lockers. Im plumbing in the CO2 to run them and quick disconnects on the front and rear bumpers with high pressure line wrapped in steel. Be expensive but worth it to me.

that said. To run lockers you need a variable regulator as the lockers are made for 90psi, not supposed to get more then that(supposedly arbs will take up to 150 though, but 90 is recommended).

Im gonna pick up a paintball CO2 tank when that happens to make sure i always have a way out for the lockers to work if by some odd chance i do run out. And ill have small portable air compressor for tires.

Can't go wrong with either in the long run really. OBA is great and important for Wheeling IMO.

 

I suppose for the amount you use it that would be fine. During the summer I usually hit the beach 2-3 times a week I would need to refill one every other week. The air pump I have is hopelessly slow so I usually drive 6-7 miles to the gas station that's free and fast.

Call me incompetent if you want. I will never forget the charcoal, firewood, or cooler. But a co2 would be something I would undoubtedly forget to refill every other week. That and the nearest painball place is 20 minutes away.

 

2-3 times a week? psh. bet a 20lb tank would last 2 months or so easy. Ive done my own truck at least 10 times, and another truck on 33s about 3-4 times, 2 trucks on 32s, and maybe more..idk..the bottle just went around the group sometimes.

 

Go on a little more about this if you could (which I know you can) lol, why a bit of a pain to store?
Temperature? Tank issues?

 

You can store them anywhere, but when they reach a certain temp the blow off valve will release to keep it from being a bomb. You also can only use them in the upright position. So if you plan to store it laying down, you must set it upright every time.

 

Ahh okay, how about cold climates?
