So I screwed up the threads on one of my rear wheel lug nuts. Is this safe to drive (going to get it fixed ASAP) if all of the other lug nuts are still 100%? How do I remove the old stud? or is this something better left to a mechanic?
    truck is a '12 SR5 4.0L 6 lug
*the stripped lug nut is on the stud but it's only on there a few turns and pretty loose

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
You'll be fine. Make sure the others are tight and don't try to set any land speed records until it's repaired.

If you don't tow or haul anything, it will be safe to drive it in for repair with 5 of the 6 properly tightened.

    Edit. Yup, what he said

If you're interested, on my first gen (probably the same for you) replacement is really really easy.

Just pull the drum off, pound out the old stud and press the new one in with a lug nut and a bunch of washers.

Just make sure you have the parking brake off and as new as your truck is they will probably pull off without too much trouble.

Here's my experience. I was driving around with 4 lugnuts on DR and 5 on the PR. All fixed now.
Protip, if the studs don't go in easy enough, but them in the freezer for a few hours. I did this but don't think I really needed to, they went in SUPER EASY.

    Oh God.

    WTF.

Jk no big deal, go ahead and pull the other drum off (hopefully everything stays in place on that side) and just put it back together to match.

If the other side explodes too a parts diagram online would help.

Normally I'd tell you to take off the other brake drum and compare, but there's a chance that might fall out, too. How many miles do you have on your truck? If it's a lot (say, 40k), then you might have to adjust the ratcheting mechanism before pulling off the drum.

Helpful video on drum brake disassembly (Chevy, but similar, even has 6 lugs!). You start seeing parts similar to yours at the 8:00 mark.

I don't want to pull the other side off in case this happens. I guess I'll look for a parts diagram. does anyone have one handy?
