Thanks haha I have cut pieces of angle iron I mounted to the front radiator support and have the lights hanging upside down. Unfortunately since I have so little space back there since the billet grill takes up a lot of space they have to get re-aimed often. I hope to get a BAMF setup eventually and hopefully fix that. I'll try to get pics the next time the grill is off.

    Thanks!

Yeah I think I'm going to run 1" spacers until I can afford some SCS wheels. I got the alignment done when I got the tires put on. It will give me the wider stance I want too I think. Hopefully I can hit up my buddy with a garage in a sometime soon so I can get the locker fixed for RC.

It worked on mine! I used an old truck tire inner tube and cut a couple pieces and wrapped the ends

CB newb question for you guys -

The antenna stud tells me to mount it in the folowing order from the bottom up

Stud - nothing - Comet mount - plastic washer, metal washer, lock washer, coupling nut

Can I replace "nothing" with a metal washer? The hole is just too big for the stud and the coupling nut on the bottom doesn't hold it in place well, not sure why...

We disagree about this lol. I don't think my comet mount is serving as a ground (since it came with no instruction, i have no idea, but my multimeter says it isn't, neither is the painted surface its mounted to. If it is serving as a ground, that washer may make unwanted connections, but that bottom coupling nut would be touching the metal anyway. I'm not sure. maybe I have the wrong stud or something, but it says it fits all firestiks and blah blah blah. My stupid antenna should be here today and i'm gonna attempt the install tomorrow - i have to cut some paneling and route the cable and wire it up which i can hopefully do in my 6 hours between classes

Hell yeah man. I will be coming for Friday wheeling, and staying into Saturday. You should have no problem getting 2 4 inch LED's back there. My Hella's are 7 inches I think? The problem is in their depth but even so there is enough space to aim them.

No idea what mount your using but here is how it should be done and you should be running a grounded antenna. If you bought a "no ground plane" type return it.

If your putting it somewhere that's not grounded - run a ground wire to the bottom. If you are trying to ground through paint or powdercoat it's not going to work. Need bare metal.

Thats what I'm confused about. I'm using 259 connectors which, to my knowledge, the inside male part is hot and the outside is ground - see left most image below. Thus, the connection should ground the mount, right? I linked the mount below too. So, it shouldn't matter if I throw another washer underneath the mount because it'll just help the "outside" ring of the 259 ground the mount. Does that make sense?

Yes.... and if the mount is not grounded simply run a ground wire to it on the bottom. That white bushing for the top has a outer lip to keep the top portion of the connector from touching the sides of the hole.

and.....WTF kind of mount is that? I'd ground that sucker to the frame. My antenna is mounted to my plate bumper and I still have an aux ground running to the frame.
