At least my silly vehicle's frame doesn't rust out to the point of a recall, my springs don't sag, my air conditioning fan doesn't make sound, and my front diff doesn't cause vibes with stock hardware....

I'm talking things I didn't cause to break. I take full responsibility for the AC and PS pumps lol

I would have thought that the 4Runner had the same front differential and HVAC fan. I finally got my fan quiet, it's just a stupid balancing pin that Toyota was too lazy to properly adjust.

    Show-off :p

New frames for free are awesome (my brothers 2001 Tundra was a brand new truck after his got replaced), MY springs don't sag either, the A/C doesn't have a separate fan (and my blower blows just fine, thanks for asking), and vibrating front diffs let you know you're driving a man's vehicle and not mom's grocery cart :D

LOL! My A/C and my power steering both work.

    Nope different diffs I guess!

I try to be.... Doesn't usually work! But I try!

Just the fact that you need a new frame means you have a shitty vehicle

Meh, just 'routine' maintenance. You have to change your PS pump, we swap out frames. It's basically the same thing

Hey at least the effort is there..haha

Eh..ideally it never happens, but as I see it at 13 yrs old (when Linda's was bought back) it's not something that would never happen. Hell, I had a Datsun ZX as a kid that rotted out completely at 10 yrs old..frame and both floorboards..

My 95 was 16 years old before the kid I sold it to totaled it. Will yours see 16 years???

And while frame rot is ghey, I'll gladly let mine rot and get replaced adding another ten serviceable years to the vehicle... After I've already gotten 5-10 years out of it.

I still remember theday I got that call from Linda..just hearing frame rot I cringed. Seeing the hole in the right rear wheelwell I wanted to fall over..she said it was worse underneath but I wouldn't look, had visions of my Datsun all the while

13 years?? They're already replacing frames on the 2005's... It's isolated, but it's already happening.

You should hope it happens to you! 6-7 year old truck with a new frame is a new truck... that you've already paid off.

Now, if I told you that I brewed my coffee on the wood cookstove, THAT would be showing off :D

I was dumb enough to crawl under it and repaint the whole damn thing and will apply Fluid Film from here on out. I debated just letting it rot and roll the dice on having Toyota replace it but decided not to. Even if they do replace the frame, it's still a hassle I don't want to deal with. In all honesty, I hopefully won't own the vehicle long enough to see it rot out. Hopefully another year or two and I'll be trading it out.

We'll see how long everything lasts. If everything starts failing at once, I'm not going to replace everything then trade it. I'm at 100k miles now so I'm at that place where wheel bearings and seals will start needing to be replaced. If I can make it to a point to trade it before anything really major goes, then great. If not, I'll keep it longer.

Yeah, it's either bail out soon or go all in. Hopefully by the time that phase hits my son will be under the truck with me learning the ways of the wrench.

I'm debating on getting mine the Ziebarting treatment. On the one hand, it's fairly pricey. On the other, I live in a state where rust isn't a question of "IF" it's a question of "When" and I don't want to have to fluid film the damn thing every year. It's a messy job, it stinks like crazy, and it ate up a good chunk of my day.
On the other hand, I've already Fluid Filmed it for this year, so if I DO opt for the Ziebarting then it'll be in the spring.
