    next time you have your wheel off, pop off the bump stops and see if the nut on top is directly over the center of the spring perch. if not, it may be closer to this....

    the ones i replaced these with are now my 4th set of center pins btw :eek:

    Keep your u-bolts properly torqued and you won't be going through as many center pins :D

    that's what Mike said, but i check them as part of my pre and post wheeling trip checklist :annoyed:

    the first few sets weren't bad, just a little tweaked at the head. this set, i definitely blame the blown out axle shims for

    Seized =/= properly torqued. ;)

    This set I'll give ya bc of the shim issue.

    plenty of antiseize on the new u-bolts, so no more locked up nuts and bent breaker bars.

    also plenty of locktight on the new center pins. lost the stock center pins because the nut on them, below the bump stop came lose. only realized that when i took off the bumps to replace them with timbrens and instal the u-bolt flip for the first time

    So i don't know if i mentioned this when it happened, but i had a little mishap a couple months ago when i was installing the doug thorly y-pipe. all of the studs out of the stock manifolds were seized up, so i had to cut them off, drill them out, and just use a regular bolt for the new y-pipe. in the process, i had a cuttoff wheel crack on me, catch the stud, and shot the grinder sideways. i was able to correct pretty quickly, but not quickly enough. it caught one of the hard lines on the tranny and blew right through it.

    luckily there was a vaccume on the line, and i only lost a few drups of fluid. maybe half an oz. the autoparts store down the road didn't have the right size hard fittings to splice it back together, so i had to resort to the ol' hose clamp method.

    a couple months, two wheeling trips, and a 1000 mile, single day drive later, it's holding strong with no leaks. makes sense though, since if you follow the line forward, it just transitions into a rubber line with a clamp as well.

    And I was complaining about how the bolts sheared off when I was installing my y-pipe. Good thinking there!

    yeah, pretty common to twist off the studs regardless of your methods. the studs are threaded in to the flange, but there was no breaking mine lose, so i had to drill....
