Unfortunately a lot of my buddies can never go camping when I really need to clear my head for the weekend (thank god the dogs are more than happy to join). If I only planned my trips around when people can join, I would spend every weekend watching TV. Like you stated, as long as you know how to walk your ass out of the woods and what you are signing yourself up for going alone, then more power to you.

Hoping for a safe rescue and cheap repair bill.

I go out a lot by myself. Just the nature of the beast like a lot of peolle have mentioned. I am just more careful and less wreckless when by myself.

UPDATE: Good news and bad news...

Jumping didn't get it started, sounds like internal failure somewhere from hydro-lock.

Two offroaders are escorting him down the trail now to the main road where a tow truck can get to him.

Darn... I know hindsight is 20/20 but he probably should have waited longer before he tried starting it...

Is there a problem with that? And who cares what he does next?

What's wrong with that it was an accident how would that be a bad thing that's what insurance is for

All that matters is he is safe, alive, and going home. Rather have a S&R than a body recovery. This could have been way worse. Trucks are replaceable, people are not.

Insurance is for accidents on roads. Ask your agent if your policy covers off-roading and trail riding and get back to me. Very few cover this and usually it requires a separate policy rider.

That thought process is why insurance costs so damn much nowadays.

I am glad he is safe, but how is this a lesson learned if someone else (insurance) bails him out financially?

I bet him & his family are relieved he's headed home.

If he's an hour from the road with a running truck. How long will this recovery take to get out?
