A ratchet strap around the tire and my arb pump worked fine for seating tires on my jeep. You just have to make sure to get any mud or junk out of the bead area. Practice with a spare tire at home, so when your stressed out and cold its not a big deal. When I have air with me I dont mind going down to 3 psi. Just remember if you air down at 5000 feet the psi will be lower when you get down to 1000 feet. Ive gotten to the pavement a couple times with now psi registering on my gauge.

I want to go. Saturday or Sunday is good. I have highway M&S tires & chains. I can also ride with someone else and take pictures.

I have some tires with more aggressive tread, I need some wheels to put them on. Anyone have stock steel wheels sitting around unused?

Sounds like could go both ways, I'd be down with HWY 2, or off of I-90 with Kyle & his buddy if he knows of a spot or two..

I like the over by Leavenworth idea for what my opinion is worth. Anyone in the pierce co area got an extra stock or even a shitty 15x8 I can borrow to put a spare on?

I can do either 90 or 2, but again it all depends on when we can meet up. I have an appt early Sat morning so id say the earliest I could meet for either destinations is 10am. And while I don't need a permission slip from my Mom to come with you guys, it might be a different story to get out of my dentist appt.

Man, you all were hot with the posts today, couldn't keep up earlier.

    • Sean, excellent advice on starting early and how lockers work in the snow. Totally agree.
    • yzrider, you can advise me any time. I love knowing more and it sounds like you have some good life experiences.
    • those who are worried about the hi-lift sinking, get yourself a scrap piece of a plank of wood. It's lightweight, keeps the lift from sinking. Drill a hole in it and attach a bit of rope so you can tug it back out. Works well in sand as well
    • This is a super nice tire guage, it's the one I pack. Kinda splurged, but man it's accurate and it has a bleeder button.
    • I have a Superflow MV90. I'm typically the quickest to fill with that. However, the guage is highly inaccurate, and mine went dead (the guage, that is). Like an idiot, I thought I'd 'fix it up' by chopping the end off and replacing with a standard quick release, then using this bad boy. Of course, these compressors want to continuously blow, and it eventually blew the hose apart :anonymous: So now I'm going to see about wiring up a pressure switch or getting a replacement hose.
For those looking at a new unit, the MV90 is great for being cheap, but a unit that will be great for a lifetime would be a VIAIR 400P-automatic or an ARB CKMA12. If you have the bucks, the ARB CKMTA12 is impressive, but harder to cram somewhere.

I don't know if I can make it out with you all or not, I need to get with Tallon and see what he needs from me and when he needs me for some work I'm having him do. I'm also going to try to push him to make a custom extinguisher bracket, just in case he feels like he's getting bored... :p Also have to see if Ben's ready to wire up our SAR radios!

I still have my stock, unused spare. Almost had jeverich grab it, but he wanted to try getting all 4 done up at once. Can't blame him with all the places he's constantly bouncing around to.
Anyway, if you are interested, it's $25 and about clean enough to eat off of :p

I may have to take this off your hands. I was just offered a beretta 9mm for $400 (not sure what model, was from a friend). I went and shot it and passed. It wouldn't feed rounds smoothly, or eject them 1 out of 5 rounds. Plus it was just a little too big for my liking.

Edit: Shit you're over two hours south of me....

Here's a couple shots from my trip out to Yellowstone a few weeks ago.. and a day spent out in Big Sky.

Day 2 of 5 day trip had 102 degree fevers; day 5 - walking was almost impossible.. Got the rig back to Bellingham, and spent 4 days in the hospital. Was about 48 hours away from going septic, via an infection that I picked up in my left knee. Not fun at all.

Yet another reason why I, and everyone else should have a SHTF plan when you're traveling alone.
    PLB/2 Meter..

Bottom line. Infections/hospitals f'n suck. Big time.

Waiting on some info from the Colockum Management Office.. definitely going to head out there soon for a couple days within the next week or so. Pretty funny how only one person in the entire state of WA can give me the status of the roads in a 91,000 Acre parcel of land!
