So, I've pretty much decided on Icons and Total Chaos UCAs in the front.
But Ive been researching and reading a lot and I cannot figure out what to do in the back. I'm thinking to add on Bilstein 5100s but I am unsure about the springs. Every once in a while I may put my quad or supermoto in the back, so I'd like the truck to be able to handle a load if possible. Ride quality and having the truck sit level front - back without a load in the back is also important. If it sags a bit with my bikes in the back, I'm ok with that.

Would an aal work for me? Or should I replace the whole leafpack? I was just going to add a aal, but will that be able to handle my bikes without bottoming out? At the moment, I do not have the rear tsb done ( I have a USA truck with only 3 springs).

Some more advice or recommendations from you guys would be great!

Just to add, I won't be offroading too much so I don't really care about flex or anything that would make my truck better in this regard. I just want my truck lifted properly and to have a really good, smooth ride.

How do you like the current ride quality? An AAL will stiffen up the rear a bit but will definitely help with both the lift and the carrying capacity.

Budget is always a factor with this stuff. Full leaf pack replacement beat an add-a-leaf but is pricier. Deaver makes some nice stuff, as does Alcan. Generally speaking, Deaver = flex while Alcan = carrying capacity.

I ran All Pro 3" springs in the rear for awhile and was very happy with them. Very cost-effective option.

You can also replace your bumpstops with some Timbrens for added carrying capacity but that won't lift your truck.

well, if u have the money, i run deaver j-66's in the rear (lifts it up by 1.5 inches) and have icon remote reservoirs in the rear. Great ride, n only decreases the towing capability ( of a 2008) by 500 lbs. So, since the 09 model (stock) has already been decreased by 500 lbs from the 08 model, you wont be losing anything. The remote reservoir on the icons will help with dampening the last few inches of travel. As for the bump stops, I am currently installing Light Racing Jouce shocks (truck is in the air as we speak). They cost a lot, and definitely not necessary if you are not going to be running your truck offroad at higher speeds. hope this helps.

I like the way the truck rides right now, I have no complaints about that.
So with just an aal, will I be able to carry a quad in the back without bottoming out? How will the ride quality be without a load in the back?

It'll be a bit stiffer, and there's no guarantees about not bottoming out. How heavy is the quad?

try doing the tsb first, and then if it is still not enogh, you can spend some cash on the aal, beacuse remember the tsb is free, and suposedly will add a inch, and will carry weight a lil better

Carrying capacity won't change with the TSB. An AAL will add 4-500lbs of carrying capacity. Any new leaf pack will only be equal to or less than original capacity.

That is what I did - not tracking height to close. Others say raises 1.5" initially and settles to 1 or.5 inch.
The firmer ride is what I prefer - improved over the stock 3 leaf packs.

Now looking at Toytec "TSB" AAL. They say their leaf raises 1.5".
Soo I expect to end up at 2 - 2.5" above original height.
Actually I am just a bit concerned that the final rear height will be higher than I need and give me some axle or vibration issues I have read about on TW.

My goal was to get 'bout 1.5 inch lift front and back (for improved off road clearance and still maintain a smooth highway ride). I got the Bilstien 5100's - to set at 1.75 lift for the front.

then why am i wasting my time having the dealer switch out my springs?

That's untrue. The TSB will change your capacity. It may not be as much as you would like it to change, but it will still carry more weight than 3 leafs.

Look into the OME Dakars. I haven't ran them personally, but everyone that I have heard from who is running them really seems to like them. They will definitely increase your carrying capacity, while not giving you a harsh ride.

Oh boy, all this reading about rear suspension options is starting to drive me bonkers!
I cannot figure out what to do. I just want to have my truck level front to back, be able to handle a load if need be, and drive really good on road. I'm about to pull my eyeballs out!

This may be an option. But with 2.75" of lift, wouldn't that make my truck higher in the back, even if I max out the Icons in the front?

I would recommend either the Daver full pack or our add-a-leaf. With the add-a-leaf you can play around with how many leafs you add to customize the lift height. The Deavers are the ultimate off-road spring pack.

Great read, now I'm paranoid about driveline vibrations! Still trying out what to do in the back. Without the rear tsb, if I just add a 1.5" 3 leaf pack, what would the on road ride be like? What weight do you think I could handle? 800# be ok?

I'm thinking the 1.5" 3 leaf pack, the Deaver 10 leaf pack or the Alcan 8 leaf pack may be the way to go. Both options give about 1.5" - 2" of lift, which hopefully, will avoid vibrations. I'll have decreased load capacity, but I guess I'll have to deal with that. Anyone know roughly how much I should be able to carry?

I thought about the Dakars, but I think it may give me too much lift and I want to try to avoid any problems with vibrations.
