I have an 02 taco xtracab cab 4x4 and had wet drivers side floorboard and carpet. Windshield wasn't leaking ,had it replaced anyway, when the windshield was out I seen where the water was coming in.about three inches down from the roof on the post I seen where three layers of metal all came together and were slightly rusty. I sealed body seams as seen in pics so far this has stopped water from coming in. Take off your entry handle and post trim and you can see water running down the post, behind the drivers side or passenger side kick panel and then onto floor boards ,then soaking the carpet hope this helps clean areas real good then apply a good sealer to a dry surface. Peel back weatherstripping to access gutter as shown in pics.

Pull off your entry handle and post trim and you'll probably see a water trail running down your post along side the dash and kick panel then to floorboards good luck.

Was the entire drivers side wet or just the front or back seat area?

Oh yeah I forgot to mention on access cab or extra cab there is a body seam that you can see that is located top front corner of the rear side pop out windows this might explain carpet being wet in the back seat areas hope this helps. The sealer they used at The factory on body seams gets hard and brittle then it gets a hairline cracks and water will find its way in. On my02 taco you could see the cracks I postd pics of these areas. Hopefully what I've found helps all of you with wet carpet.

I've had water leaking quite a bit in the cab of my truck. Turns out that there are quite a few pinch welds up front that can cause leaks. I've been able to chase most of them down using the TSB. Now the carpet is just a little damp after a rain storm. Before there used to be a puddle underneath.

Some of the seams can be a huge PITA to get to.

I'll have to try the tsb and see if there's other pinch welds or body seams that cause leaks

i remember when i first bought my truck that whenever i would wash it or it would rain... the carpet would be wet right where the floor trim met the carpet. And when i would open the storage bin lids, the V shaped gutter looking thing would be filled with water on both sides. Long story short it was my weather stripping. It seams the weather stripping had been removed at on point and the sealer that holds the weather stripping to the pinch weld is only a once and done type sealer. So i just pulled the door weather strip back off, put a bead of black RTV silicon back in the groove and reinstalled it. Let it dry, tested with a hose and no more leaking.

    Pretty much stock right now
I had a really bad passenger side front leak. Turned out to be the windshield. It was not the OEM glass, and was badly replaced whenever and whoever did it (prob one of the fast but cheap chain windshield shops). Had a local shop redo it, right this time, and leak stopped. Windshield was cracked anyway in two places. Better than new now.

Good deal guys I was hoping the research and the repairs I did on my 02 taco would help others out on the wet carpet problem. People always think it's the windshield that's the culprit like I did,and they overlook the body seems and pinch welds. These taco as are awesome trucks and wet carpet sucks!!

Hmmmmmmm..... My 99 has had a wet floor on the drivers side for a long time. I figured it was the grommet in the wire wall since it had a hole in it. I need to check this out!!! Thanks for the link!!!
