4x4 Conversion on my '12 PreRunner

I agree with the Solid Axle. Might as well since you don't have any front driveline anyways.

 

Solid axle swap. Its where you get a solid axle and have it installed up front it is good for running bigger tires up front.

 

Trade it in or SAS is your options that would benefit you.

 

It is an option plus the SAS if sold to the right person later down the road could add value to his truck. It just has to be the right person and in the right place.

 

hahaha yeah! tracks seems like a totally feasible option for my truck! it would make it badass AND I could go ANYWHERE!

 

With the money you would spend trading up or converting just buy a 1st gen 4wd. The only reason people convert to 4wd is because they feel they will truly use it, would you really want to beat on the truck your parents gave you (lucky bastard haha). Get an early 1st gen that you can beat on and since your truck now is 2wd you won't want to do many mods (offroad carnage mods) to it because it's still limited by 2wd.

This course of converting will be a nightmare especially if you don't know what a sas is

haha thanks for the advice and yeah im quite under experienced but a few buddies of mine have been doing these kinds of things since they were 12 years old so they said they would help me for the majority of the work. my friend is also a welder so I could get him to make the custom crossmember which would be nice. im more worried about getting the transfer stick situated inside the cabin. I honestly think it would be easier to do the transfer off of a 4wd Tacoma. but then again I don't really know whats behind that beautiful plastic.

 

I know I just love the look of a modded Taco baby! I could always go the desert runner/mall crawler look. then again I really just hope I win that contest for the ultimate offroad vehicle.
