This spot is 'on' the mountain bike trail in Downieville. We woke up had coffee & breaky & rode down into town & picked up a shuttle to the top of the trail & dropped right back to camp for beers... not a bad spot :-]

I was just up there a couple weeks ago to check out a claim. I had no idea how popular that was for mountain biking until I had to keep dodging bikers as I was trying to drive up the road. How far up the road is this spot you're camped?

Nothing inside, but I do have one during a "tailgate"...

I know, this goes against everything this thread is "about," but hey, I've had plenty of nights "out" in 20+ years of river guiding, backpacking, mountain biking, and whatnot. Hey, if I can camp, ride, drink beer, bring my dogs, AND watch some Duck Foobaw, I'm in heaven.

Not great... it was a four-banger. I even had Alcan 5-leafs on the rear, but the tongue weight made it struggle. That was the real reason my better half greenlighted the '11 DCLB. :D

You haven't violated anything that this thread is about. Whether you are sleeping on a rock or curled up inside a sweet RV, just being out and away from civilization is the key. My grandfather, who started taking me on camping trips when I was only 3, had a saying for all of his trick camping gear: "Any damn fool can be uncomfortable."

Hey Bob - it's about 2-3 miles up on Lavazzola (sp?)creek. You don't have to worry about dodging us on the road, we'll move ;-)
    Good luck with the claim.

Cool, thanks. I turned around not far past where the road turns away from the river so didn't go very far up. As it turns out I was given bad directions and the claim is on the North Yuba above Downieville so I didn't need to drive up that way in the first place! :( I had no idea the road ran that far back in until looking at it on a map just now. Good to know there's more back there and now I'll have to explore further up next time! :)
