Test drive and do a close comparison of the options and what comes as standard equipment. The only advantage the Tacoma has is resale value. If you keep it a long time that would make little difference. The Frontier does not have the shudder vibration and a more powerful engine but gets about one MPG lower in town and about the same MPG on the highway. Until the Tacoma gets a redesign this is my opinion. Both are great trucks. Pick which one has appealing looks to you.

Are you lifted? I have never had any shudder or vibration.

Either way, why would anybody ever buy a Colorado? They have never had a single good review, even when brand new they suck.

Frontier has more "bling" available from the factory (leather, sunroof, excellent sound system), but when it comes down to ruggedness and long term reliability Tacoma is the way to go... oh yeah, and one more thing: THE FRONTIER HAS A CARGO LIGHT! ARE YOU LISTENING TOYOTA?

Dude seriously? First a Colorado and now a Frontier...you're getting warmer....and you keep coming back to TW to ask us our opinion. Go put all the clues together....then go buy yourself a Tacoma.

DISCLAIMER: I might just be having a Grumpy Old Man moment :notsure:

EDIT: For clarification, the way I read it is you're saying, 1) "I want a Tacoma or maybe a Colorado." 2) "I want a Tacoma or maybe a Frontier." Your consistent comparison is to the Tacoma. :notsure: But me thinks you want a Tacoma.

Let me correct myself. The compare is between the Tacoma and Frontier. I consider the Colorado junk yard material.
I had a 2010 Tacoma that did not shudder and vibrate but my 2012 does, very bad. It is not lifted. stock with stock tires. My 2010 was almost a duplicate truck except for color. TRDs. I trade every two years weather I need to or not. I now have 2013 Frontier and I like it about equal to the Tacoma so I can give a good honest comparison. When the 2016 model comes out it will be between the Tacoma and Frontier. Which ever one has a redesign first. If I find I took a hit on bad resale value with the Frontier when I trade in two years I will take the hit and go back to Tacoma. I trade every two or three years because I can afford to and I like something different every couple years. Much cheaper than trading women.

No car payment and it looks like new when traded. Spending money I have saved so the kids will not fight over it when I die.
Once you get one paid for the difference is not much. My last trade I drove my Tacoma 2 years and traded for $4300 difference. That's only $179 per month to keep a new truck.

I was going to say the same thing.

In all seriousness though, I don't envy guys and gals that have Frontiers. I think the 90s RC looks alright but wouldn't trade it for my Taco.

We are all going to say to go with the Tacoma, because that's what we all drive. :D
Frontiers aren't bad, but I'd still go with a Taco.

I went through this entire debacle 2 months ago. What I found? Only chevy people buy colorado's and the frontier isn't as nice as the tacoma. It all comes down to your pocketbook my friend. You get what you pay for.
